I am hoping to get tix to Atlantic City; even though Philly is closer it would be so hard on a school night. Does anyone know how long the concert is?

ntink -- just make sure to read the small print on the ticketmaster site. They are limiting purchase of tickets in most places - to only people who live in certian areas that are listed... so check on that before you try to buy. :)

Also, not sure how long the concert is -- i would guess about 2 hrs or so... then allowing for travel, etc.. (lucky for us it is only 20 min away) -- however, our concert is a Thurs. night - so at least the next day of school for my dd is a friday. ;)

I was worried about the Philly concert for the same reason. I ended up getting tickets in Newark b/c it is a Sat. afternoon show.

ours is a monday night concert... maybe I'll get lucky and it will snow after we get home from it and we'll get a snow day. :) I'm just really hoping she doesn't have a lot of homework that night... guess she can do it in the car and then the subway though. (she'll just LOVE that) :) maggie

Ok so I see this on the TM website:
Additional Information:
Due to overwhelming demand, sales for this show are restricted to NJ, DE, and the Philadelphia and New York Metro areas. During the first 30 minutes of the fan club presale and the first 30 minutes of the public onsale, orders by residents outside the NJ, DE, and the Philadelphia and New York Metro areas will be canceled without notice and refunds given.

I live in Chester County, PA which I have always considered part of the Philadelphia metro area so I called TM to verify and the person reads this back to me and then says that they do not have an official definition of the Philadelphia metro area :confused3 wish me luck on Saturday, based on what I've read here if I don't get tix in 30 seconds (never mind 30 minutes) then I am out of luck. Thankfully DDs (9 & 5) do not seem to know that HM is touring - they have not mentioned it.

ntink -- good luck!! Sending pixie dust your way for Saturday!! Hope it works out for you..

anyone going to the dc show? maggie

A friend of mine got 4 tickets to the DC Show by mistake.. she actually meant to get them for the Baltimore show! LOL But hey, she has her tickets! Another friend of mine also has 4 tickets to the DC show, and will most likely be taking my oldest daughter with her, since I screwed up and gave my code to a different friend, who bought 2 tix for Baltimore, leaving me able to only get 2 myself.. So DH and my youngest daughter will be going to the Baltimore show, unless I can get ahold of 4 more tix this Saturday!

That doesn't sound particularly definitive.

This isn't new. Popular concerts have been selling out in minutes for years. Ever try to get Springsteen tickets? White Stripes tickets? Radiohead tickets?

The scalpers do this all the time. They hire a ton of people who are better at this than you are and they get a bunch of the tickets. Not all, but a bunch. Look how many are on eBay or StubHub. For the AC show, for example, there are about 270 - 275 tickets on those two sites right now, combined. That's out of at least 4,000 that were sold as part of the presale. I'm going to guess that 90% of the tickets sold went to regular folks like you and me.

Unfortunately the demand significantly outstrips the supply and lots of people are disappointed and the lunatics out there allow the professionals to make a tidy profit.

My intention was to share the story, and I should have kept it to myself.

To answer your question, no I have not bought any concert tickets, other than the The Cheetah Girls, since the 90's.

I was one of the lucky ones. I did get tickets. I am just saddened for those who did not due to circumstances beyond their control.

We are going to the Baltimore concert. If it starts at 7pm, what time do you think we need to be there? I have not been to a concert in FOREVER! I can't remember how these things work!

depends on how much you want to see the jonas brothers. :) they are the opening act. seriously, we usually turn up about an hour beforehand. maggie

Well, around here if you want a parking space in a garage, you've got to get there way before the concert starts.

If I were to arrive late, during the first act or even short before it begins, I'd have no where to park.

Same here.. there isn't really a ton of parking.. So, i am probably going to plan on being there for at LEAST 6pm..

You're correct. I should amend that to say 90% of available tickets. I'm also familiar with holdbacks (and how they sometimes work to your advantage when they sometimes become available for sale at the last minute). My point was that consumers and scalpers are pulling from the same pool, and that in spite of how it might appear, the vast majority of those tickets are going to "regular folks".

For those who did not get tickets it's good to keep in mind that more seats may become available. Cancelled orders, unused holdbacks, add'l seats when production details are finalized (e.g. size and location of stage, etc.) can pop up on TM at almost any time.

Sounds like you work in the industry or are close to someone who does? You are right on target with what you are saying.

Has anyone had luck calling a ticketmaster out of their city to get through faster? We are going to try to get tickets for Auburn Hills in Michigan this morning at 10. ANY help is appreciated!!

Don't call TM. Their ACD system makes the one at Disney Dining seem streamlined. Also, calling out of town won't help either, all those numbers route to the same handful of call-centers.

Try it online.

Make sure you have a TM account with a saved CC and be logged on. Get a watch w/ a second hand and synchronize it to the atomic clock at www.time.gov. Be on the page where it says "Tickets are not on sale yet". At 10:00:00 start hitting the refresh button. I find TM to actually be about 5 seconds behind the government clock, but you never know. Go for "Best Available", any other selection will severely hurt your chances. The one true element of luck will be how readable your "secret word" is.

If you're unfamiliar with the secret words TM uses, go through the system as if you're buying tickets for something that is already on sale and learn the whole process flow.

edit: a couple of more things... If you don't have high-speed internet, go somewhere that does. And close any other browser sessions, email, etc. that might grab some bandwidth as you are trying to load TM pages.

Good luck!

How do you set up the CC account?

go in and create an account.. it shoul dbe on the top of the page.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! to everyone trying today.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

My friend scored 2 for me and my daughter so I am going to try for my husband and other daughter..

:tinker:Sending pixie dust to everyone.:tinker:
