My 4 year old is going for an eye exam Wednesday and given my dh's horrible eyesight, I won't be surprised if she needs glasses. Anyone have experience with Walmart Vision centers and the new Hannah Montana eyewear? I know there are disney princess eyeglasses out there too, and I'm not sure who carries those. also, how much did kids glasses run? My recent progressive lenses/frames still cost $250 after all the insurance coverage. Thanks!

I was very surprised (pleasantly) with walmart vision center. My son needed recspecs for sports and they were much cheaper. I had them extremely fast.

I proceded to then have my daughter do an eye exam with them which was done right away. I dont think they had a big selection at the time for kids especially girls but i would be curious myself to see what they have in the Hannah Montana line. I would use them again.

We only go to walmart for my kids glasses. I haven't seen the new hannah ones yet. My 8yo's last appt was in October and she picked the same exact frames that she had the year before lol. She gets a new pair each year.

We pay on average under $100 for her glasses. Make sure you get the warrant. It is so worth it. She is rough on it and they will replace them. The first year she got them repaired/replaced 3 times. I cant get the girl to take them off at night.

Thanks for the advice on the warranty. I know I have a warranty on my lenses for a year, but I didn't realize you could get a different one for kids. We'll see if she ends up needing glasses, but I'm sure at some point during her childhood she will, even if we can hold off for now. I was just prescribed bifocals (got progressive lenses though) and I'm only 32!

My daughter just got hers last week and she loves them (she's 8). Out the door, appt, lenses & frames cost $172. The HM frames are a little more expensive so I hope they hold up better then the last frames we bought. Walmart does not offer extra warrenty on children's frames, I specifically asked. They do provide free adjustments which we used a lot with her last pair. Seems like they would bend so easily. These seem to be a little stronger, but like I said, it's only been two weeks.

That just might be a policy at your local one. I have had my sons and daughter frames replaced with no problem at all. When my kids first started going I believe we paid $10 for a 1 year warranty. This past time is was $20.

We just picked up my DD6 glasses last Friday at Walmart. She got one pair of Hannah Montana Glasses and another style that we put transitions in. For the 2 pair it cost us $300 (including the transitions on the one pair). I really liked their service and also like the year warranty. I asked what happens if she was to step on the glasses and break them - he said to bring them in and she would get a new pair. Thought that was great. Now if these will last a year - she just got glasses in September and her eyesight prescription has doubled since then.

If you don't mind my asking--why did you purchase two pair of glasses, and then only one with transitions lenses? Are those lenses recommended more for kids?

By the way, I saw HSM and Hannah Montana, as well as some non-disney, i.e. Fairly Oddparents glasses for kids as well when I checked out the vision center on a trip to Walmart today.

I get my DD6 two pair just in case. She switches off wearing them but I don't want her to be without if something should happen to one of the pairs. (She is a klutz). And she is pretty new to this glasses thing. I didn't realize that Walmart had such a great plan for breakage and such so next time I might just get her one paoir - but it is nice to have an extra pair to fall back on.

I wasn't going to spend the extra money to put transitions in both pair. But, it's nice to have in one pair. So, when she is outside in the sun she can still see good. Otherwise she has to make sure she has her clip on sunglasses with her at all times and that wasn't happening. So, thought we would try these out and see how she likes them.

My 7 year old just got a pair. THey are adorable. They are her signature pink with rhinestones. She'd already had an eye exam. for the glasses and frames and tax was 128.87. She loves them and they seem to be of good quality.
