Hanging up my running shoes-Update on ZellyB

TRIP PLANNING - HIGHS AND LOWS
And, happy fall, y'all!
You may recall that I still had a couple of loose ends waiting out there to complete my obsessive planning for our trip. The first item was the purchase of our military salute tickets from Shades of Green. I called them last week and got things in the works and got notification today that they have shipped and should be in my greedy little hands on the 18th. YAY. In time for me to make our FP+ selections at the 60 day mark. The second benefit is that the purchase of said tickets also put us over the minimum spend requirement for our new fancy Chase Sapphire Reserve card, so hoping to see those 100,000 reward miles credited to our account soon. Woohoo!!! I've got you in my sights, :tinker:.

The second piece we needed resolution on was the update to occupancy for the BCV studios from 4 to 5. I'm closely monitoring the thread in the resort forum that talks about Yacht Club and Beach Club - and, seriously, that is an awesome thread! So, there were some more posts recently indicating the refurbishments were fully completed, so I asked again about the change in occupancy since the Disney Website still shows 4. So, a really nice Disboarder did a chat with member services to ask and was told, YES! occupancy is now 5. :jumping1:

I quickly sent an email to the site we are using to rent points to ask if we could add on my son informing them of the information I got here. Sadly, I got a response back from them that an inquiry to add my son was rejected and said it might not be until after the first of the year to change occupancy. I mean, it's our fault for booking the room and then my son belatedly deciding to join us, but I'm also a bit annoyed with Disney that even after renovation is complete it takes them 3 months to change occupancy. Maybe it's because of inspections or fire code stuff or who knows, but I'm still totally bummed. Chris and I talked and decided we'd probably have to book another room (probably at Pop) and maybe Drake and Chris stay there - or, we be bad people and just book the room but let Drake sleep in our room anyway even though the official occupancy is still 4. Blah. Anyway, like I said, it's a problem of our own making, but grrrrr Disney. Why must you be so slow about completing EVERYTHING?

I replied to the email from our rental place saying thanks for checking and that I'd probably just book another room and she replied telling me to hold off. She was putting in an inquiry to member services to get clarification since there was some conflicting information. So, still holding out a slim hope that maybe we can add him on. Sigh.

In training news, I did go out on Tuesday morning for a 3 mile walk with Chris. The foot did bother me some during the walk but nothing bad and didn't appear to worsen things in the long term, so maybe that's progress. I'm going to try and run on it this weekend some and see how I do. I'm hoping I can get back to a normal training schedule quickly.

Lastly, last weekend was an absolutely gorgeous fall weekend here, so I pulled out my fall and Halloween decorations and really got myself in the autumnal spirit.

Even my car gets in the act. These little guys hang out on my rear view mirror in October.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Thats really strange with the room occupancy thing. I would imagine if people are staying in those rooms already that the fire code would have to be done. I don't know what the hold up could be.

I hope your run goes well this weekend.

Great Halloween decor!

I hope that occupancy headache works out! I'm bad, and I would feel fine about having a 5th person sleep there, only because that room is built to have 5 anyway. But that would mess up his MDE stuff, wouldn't it? That's a good sign that the rental place said to hold off on getting another room! Fingers crossed!

Love your decorations! Those ceramic ghosts are so cute!

And good luck trying to run this weekend!!!

Still getting nowhere on room occupancy unfortunately. Our rental place called and was told no not until after the first of the year. For some reason though, she emailed me to say that she really thought we'd be able to add him on before our trip. Maybe they unofficially told her something. That nice person on the Beach Club thread also tried again via email and got the same answer that occupancy is 4, so who knows?

If you are someone who is a real stickler for following the rules, you might want to skip the next part....

I'm thinking of booking a "throwaway" room for Drake. The cheapest room I can find for one night. That will allow me to link him into my MDE and attach a ticket to him and get FP+ scheduled for him along with us. Also gets him a magic band and then basically I just have him sleep in our room anyway. We are in a villa for a short enough time that we don't get mousekeeping, so I don't think anyone will be the wiser. Of course, I'm mostly just hoping things get worked out and we get him legitimately added, but with the 60 day FP window fast approaching and no guarantee of getting him added at all, I'm inclined to go ahead and do it this way. I've got another couple of weeks until FP+ day, so I'll likely stall until then hoping for some kind of change in occupancy and if it doesn't happen by then, I'll probably just work the system. :(

:DTRAINING UPDATE
Short and Sweet
I RAN ON SUNDAY!!!! :yay:

We ran a pretty easy 4 miles doing a :60/:30 interval. Overall pace ended up around 11:17 I think. I wore a little compression sock thing on my right foot to try and give it some added support. I was definitely aware of the heel pain the whole time, but it was pretty minor. I could tell I haven't run for a month though. ::yes:: But it really wasn't too bad. I knew I'd be able to stand to run on it, but the real question for me was how the foot would feel afterward. Basically, did I make it worse after a few weeks of steady if incredibly SLOW improvement. The rest of the day Sunday I just did some normal walking around the house, and a couple of times used a massager on the heel. Last night I went ahead and slept in my torture sock as well. Verdict this morning? Not bad. It's not noticeable worse that I can tell and the pain is most routinely now down to more minor discomfort like it's been the last few days. I'm taking that as a victory. :D

I'm going to try and return to my Tuesday/Thursday runs this week again taking pace and intervals nice and easy and then do our group run on Saturday if all goes well. If things continue this way, then I'll likely go ahead and run our local half in a couple of weeks again taking the pace slow and just work to finish without causing more damage. From there, I'll try to ramp up mileage a bit more and get myself as ready for Goofy as I can get. So, fingers crossed that things continue on this path.

It was an absolutely spectacular weekend here with really warm temps. It's supposed to get up to 90 today!!! :beach: What the heck?? But after this we get back into normal fall temps with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Trees are starting to change over and it should be a beautiful week!!

RDP time!!

Epcot at night is just so pretty!!

What the heck with them not changing the occupancy for your room?? So annoying!

If you have to...I think some of the values are at $80-$90 with a discount (not sure if general room discounts have been released yet) so hopefully you can grab one in the meantime. ugh!

Yay for a good run!! I hope you continue to feel better this week. We're having those crazy warm temperatures here too (highs in the low 80s today and tomorrow!) and I sort of love it.

Love your RDP...I love Epcot at night! :lovestruc

Epcot at night = swoon! And it'll be walking distance = double swoon!

I agree on the "work around." If he for sure has somewhere to sleep, then let him sleep there.

Yay for running! Glad your run wasn't too bad and I hope things go smoothly for you.

Hooray for running!

All it takes is a month or so off of running to remind me of how much I love running - so there's an upside to injuries right?

Epcot at night is the best and part of why I'm so excited to be staying within walking distance. I did snag a room for $90 to hold onto. Still holding out hope for a change in occupancy soon.

I would definitely feel OK about the throwaway room!

Congrats on your run!! I sure hope you can keep it up!

I'm so happy to be running again.

Swoon indeed!! I'm usually a rule follower, but I've managed to rationalize this one. :D

DRIVE BY UPDATE!!!

I've run two more times this week. YAY! Foot is no better really but also no worse, so yay!! Fingers crossed.

Also, heard back on @roxymama 's most awesome shirt idea and they can do it. She's working on the mock-up for me for final approval but I'm so happy about the shirt. :worship: My mom also feels pretty confident she can make me a Daisy shirt and Chris a Donald shirt so I ordered some tech wicking fabric online and should get that soon as well so she can make us our shirts for the half. We got our tickets in the mail yesterday from Shades of Green so all set to match them up in MDE and prepare for FP+ day which is fast approaching. It's coming together y'all. :flower1:

I can't wait to see those costumes- you guys are going to look so great!!

Training Update
I'm actually almost back to normal!
Sorry not to have updated sooner. I was out most of last week with a work conference up in St. Louis that was INTENSE and exhausting. But, back home now and trying to settle back into a normal pattern again.

I've had two weeks now of a pretty normal running schedule again. YAY! The foot is still not back to normal, but I do think is gradually continuing to improve and certainly not getting any worse even with my running increasing, so that's a good sign I think that I'm truly on the mend.

I mentioned above that I ran back on October 16 for 4 miles and things went pretty well, so I decided to try and go back to a typical training schedule and just run at a :60/:30 interval with a slower pace for me. That seems to be working out well...

Tuesday 10/18 - 4 mile run
Thursday 10/20 - 3 mile run
Saturday 10/22 - 6.5 mile run
Tuesday 10/25 - Out of town at a conference so didn't run
Thursday 10/27 - 4 mile run
Saturday 10/29 - 4.2 mile run and then walked for another 1.5 miles

Nothing spectacular, but at least back into a pretty regular routine and feeling pretty good.

Sunday is our local Marathon/Half-Marathon. I dropped back from the marathon, so I'll be running the half. I'm planning to just treat this like a long training run and not as a race. I'll do the :60/:30 intervals and my time will just be what my time will be. Hoping to be under the 2:45 mark, but if it's over that, I'm okay with that too. Just want to finish it and collect my bling and not reinjure the foot. I've rearranged my training schedule for the remainder of the time until Goofy and the important thing is just to get the miles in and hope for the best come January. Planning on my longest weekend mileage to be a 10/20 miler back to back and if I pull that off, I should be okay to finish Goofy. Won't be my strongest training for it, but it should be good enough to get it done!

This past Saturday I went to see the traveling show of Mama Mia at our local theater. Went with my mom and two sisters.

Had never seen this before and it was just so much fun. We had a great time!

THAT STUPID MASK TOTALLY FREAKS ME OUT!!!

...well, I'm gonna have nightmares now, so thanks for that! :faint:

I was concerned that you hadn't been posting this week because your foot was acting up more, so I'm glad to hear that that wasn't the case and that you're feeling better!! Awesome news!

Great to hear your foot is slowly getting back ... but that last picture ... :scared:

Haha! Sorry about the freaky picture. :)

And thanks so much on the foot. I honestly feel like may finally be getting on top of this thing. Sunday will be the big test of that.

HEY LOOK WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!
:tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker:

Chances are now exactly 100% that I'll be participating in the Pixie Dust Challenge in May. Chris is even going to come along with me. YAY!!! Happy Mother's Day to me, I guess. And we'll be saying hello to that Coast to Coast medal as well. I'm so stinking excited and can't wait to run a Disney race on the west coast.

I even went ahead and reserved a hotel room at the Residence Inn at the convention center. Pretty close and easily walking distance and it had really good reviews on Expedia. WOOHOO!!!!!
