I know that guests and crew aren't allowed to intermingle, but who here has ever hung out with a cast member, whether it be a friend or significant other? If so where did you guys go to spend time together without getting in trouble?

I have friends and family both who have worked at different times on various ships. While working I only said hello if we passed, not wanting to interfere with their duties. Off duty we spent some time in Cove but most of our time together was off ship in ports.

You really want to get someone in trouble? For the most part working CMs are not allowed "social" time while onboard, unless approved by their supervisors. I would think they would abide by the rules.

Long story short is my boyfriend is a cast member. He also happens to live halfway around the world so we rarely get to see each other in person. No, I do not want to get him in trouble, but our time together is pretty precious and I want to make the most of it.

They do make allowances for that and as you see from other positive responses that have friends and family on there it is possible. Make sure his line supervisors know when you are on and they will try to accommodate. Do not worry about getting them in trouble you won't.

I would assume your boyfriend would know the rules and only meet you in areas that are allowed, with permission from his supervisors. I am sure you are not the first boyfriend/girlfriend to be onboard.

On our first cruise (4-day Bahama), my nephews were 20 and 22ish. They met up with some of the entertainment staff and hung out with them relentlessly on the ship and in Nassau. From the stories I've been told, it was quite a party ;) They were left under the impression that the actors have a little more leniency than others. So if your boyfriend is an actor, you may be better off!

This kinda explains why some crew members seemed 'remote' on our last cruise - impersonally friendly, if that makes sense, while others would avoid any interaction other than the service needed to be performed. We tended to gravitate to the one sports bar where the servers were more conversationally friendly. We don't need to be BFF's but I don't like feeling I'm putting someone out by expecting service with a smile.

There was a LOT of crew friends & family on the WBPC. I enjoyed chatting with one fellow who was the boyfriend of one of the theater performers. It was also the last sailing for that theater group (Wonder 30). I saw him with his GF every couple days in common areas when she was obviously not working. Like 1 night he was in a character line with us and was keeping an eye on her because she was about to be off work and they had dinner plans. it was no big deal, really.

Then he will know the rules and how to get permission to see you. He will know far better than we will, and can protect his job as well.
