Does anyone have any tips for hanging christmas lights outside???? Does anyone have any creative ideas????? Thanks!!!!!

if you want to line any areas of the yard, instead of buying those expensive plastic stakes,, go to local building supply and get heavy hanger wire for drop ceilings and cut it to fit,, much easier to handle and put into the ground that hte big plastic stakes and it doesnt break when frozen,,, our house is still trimmed with wood so we staple our lights directly to the house with a power stapler from my tool box..lol.. not an every day item, but a lot easier than installing the little plastic hangers. if using a ladderr please please have someone with you and watch outt for over head wires. check all the cords and wires as you install them, there are way too many house fire from damaged christmas lighting each year, tape all of your strand to strand plug in connections with water proof electrical tape and use only outdoor rated lighting. make sure the cords you run are outdoor cords, it scares me when i see hte little 97 cent indoor cards used to hang lights on a house.

It's a bit time consuming, but this year my dh used little metal hooks that screw in to hold the lights to the house. When he takes the lights down the hooks will stay. It will save him lots of time hanging lights next year, and you don't have to worry about driving a nail or staple through the wire.
