Handicapped rooms at OKW?

Hi everyone! I have a question about handicapped accesible rooms at OKW.
How do they differ from regular rooms, do they still have a whirlpool tub? We are renting points from a member, and just emailed him to let him know that we "may" need one, because I recently broke my foot. I still really wanted the tub though! TIA

One bedroom and larger units will have the whirlpool tub. The free standing shower will be replaced with a roll-in wheelchair shower. Counters and appliances may be lower to allow those in wheelchairs to reach them, and there may be limited counter space and cupboard space to allow wheelchair access.

If you don't need full wheelchair access, and can get around inside OK (but may need a wheelchair for the parks, etc.) you would probably be OK requesting ground floor unit, unless you are in a Grand Villa. There is only one ground floor GV, and one elevator GV at OKW.

I agree with Chuck.
Depending on what you need, you may be just as well getting a regular one bedroom unit. The space is the same; the biggest difference will be the roll in shower in the bathroom, a raised seat toilet and the sink in the shower room part of the master bath has just a counter so that you can roll under the sink and use it while seated in a wheelchair. The part of the master bathroom that has the tub is the same as in the non-accessible units.

One thing to keep in mind is that the roll in shower can sometimes result in splashes on the floor since there is no lip to keep the water in place.

There are really 2 handicapped GV's in the elevator building. We have stayed in both of them. The ground floor unit is very nice also. If you need a GV, all of them will be up stairs to get to the front door unless you get a handicapped one. If you don't need a GV then as was started you can just ask for a ground floor unit.

Thanks everyone! We are renting a 2br, and I think I'll be okay to just use an ECV at the parks, but if it doesn't get better soon, I may need one at the resort too. I emailed the guy we are renting from and told him this, so I think he's going to see if he can get us into a ground floor regular 2br, because I really don't need the handicapped accesible features. I wouldn't want to keep someone who really needs it from getting it.

Ground floor 2 bedroom is not a difficult request to meet. Many people actually want the top floor because of the view or because they think it is quieter.
He should ask for it 'for medical reasons.' They fill those requests first before they fill the 'general' requests for the same thing.
