Handicapped Parking at Poly ???

:wave2: Hello all you transportation folks! I posted this question on the Disabilities board without a clear answer. Hope you can help.

We are going to be staying at the Poly in October and my parents are going to come up for part of the time and stay off site. They have a handicap placard for their car. I heard they can get complimentary valet at the Poly (of course providing the valet with a tip).

Here is the rub, I heard that there is a 3 hour time limit for parking if you are not a Poly guest. Does this time limit apply to valet?

We want Mom and Dad to be able to meet us at the hotel and then go with us to the parks. They will have their own MYW tickets, so they will be eligible for Disney Transportation.

If there is a time limit for valet, what should we plan to do? Should they plan to park at TTC and take the monorail to the Poly? Would that be the best idea? Or do you have another suggestion?

We will have a car with us, so they cannot use our parking pass. Also, we will have five in our room, so we cannot add them to the reservation.

What do y'all think? TIA :grouphug:

Come on folks, somebody out there has parked valet at the Poly. Maybe you stopped in for breakfast or dinner? Did they tell you that you had to be back in 3 hours or they would tow your car???? Anybody?

They can just park themselves. Poly has THE best hotel parking right out front and they will just walk right across the little roadway there into the hotel. And if I were you, I would get them a parking pass at the front desk, just tell the CM there and see if they will give you one.

Yes, they can park themselves... out front... for up to three hours per the parking pass they'll be given by the guard as they enter the parking lot. But that's NOT what the OP is asking - he/she is asking about any time limit with VALET parking.
Since they haven't gotten an absolute answer on two message boards, it may be a good idea if they call the hotel directly.

I was given other suggestions.....just as the OP asked as well! Didn't know if they realized how easy it was to park yourself at the Poly, so wanted them to know. And when we were just there, we had a 5 hour pass actually. Got there a little before 5pm and it didn't expire until 10pm. Not that that would help them most likely.

And I called the Poly myself, just had to know the answer and people can visit someone staying at the Poly for AS LONG AS THEY LIKE! There is NO time limit at all on this. The parents just need to tell the guard at the gate that they are there to visit so and so, in room #xxx and they will be able to park all day long....even going to the parks, etc! Valet or otherwise.

Generally speaking, with valet parking, yes, there is no time limit.

HOWEVER... during peak times, there will be a time limit. If the resort goes on what's called a "hard close" they will put time limits on visitors to the hotel. They do so at Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and all of the Epcot resorts too.

First, thank you, thank you, thank you to those of you who responded!

Sounds like, unless there is a 'hard close', that we should be able to get them some sort of pass that allows them to park as long as they want since they are guests of ours . . .

I was figuring they would park valet, since they have some mobility issues (thus the handicap placard I mentioned). I had heard that regular parking had a time limit for non-Poly folks, just not sure about valet if it had the same requirements.

If it does not work out for us to get the all day parking pass for them, what would you suggest? Have them park at TTC and take the monorail to Poly?

Thanks again. I appreciate your input.

It will work out for you, unless they are coming on October 31st, then they might have some limits. But, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Just have them tell the guard that they are visiting you for the day, they will give them a parking pass and they can drive right up to valet and park it for as long as they are there.

If for some reason they do tell them they have a limit that does work for them, then do the TTC thing and take the monorail...but my guess is, that isn't going to happen.
