Has anyone ever stayed in one? I am wondering if they are equipped with double beds or king size beds?

My dh requires a room with a roll in shower, but if we are going to end up with double beds, then we want to bring a small airbed for our dd.

Thanks,

Danielle

Hi, drgreene1096!

I am far from an expert, but the people over at the disAbilities forum here can probably give you more information. If I remember correctly, there are two types of handicapped accessible rooms. One type is with the roll in shower and the other type has a bathtub and grab bars. The type with the roll-in shower at Pop Century have king beds due to the space that type of bathroom needs.

Hope that helps! And I hope you all have a wonderful trip!

At POP the rooms with the roll in showers are all King beds.

If there's a party of 3 in a king bed accessible room at Pop, they will provide a rollaway bed free of charge- this way you won't need to bring an airbed ( unless you prefer it).---Kathy

I just came back from POP and had an accessible room with a roll-in shower. It did have a King size bed but it was a wonderful room on the first floor. There would have been room for a roll away without difficulty and my chair. Have a great time.

Wheelie, can you tell me if the handicapped rooms have a fridge? I had heard that they do, but I didn't know if that was true or not.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We are going to POP in November staying in a king room with a roll in shower. We had to request a fridge for medication purposes.

Our room did have a fridge. It was right next to the TV and very convienant. Hope that helps.

If you need a refrigerator you would want to request it. I've been in rooms at Pop without them. Opening the door to where they would've been, there was just an empty space. Once there was one that was the size of a mini bar and only enough room for a small amount of medication ( or in my case, only one can of tube feeding fit ) or upon other occasions there's been one the size of a dorm fridge. When I've had to request one after arrival they've been very strict about it being for medication...and may bring the teeny tiny one if it is or charge you for a larger one if it isn't. ----Kathy

The 3 times we have stayed at POP there has always been a fridge. But like others have posted in the past you can't always count on it being there.

I asked because I had read somewhere that the handicapped rooms had a fridge. I guess it's just by luck. I know when we've stayed before at POP (not in a handicap room) we had to request the fridge. Maybe we'll luck out this time...especially since we couldn't take advantage of any of the discount codes!

Has anyone stayed in a room at Pop with a roll-in shower and two beds? We have been assured by reservations CMs that our "bedding needs will be met." When I ask does that mean two beds, I get the same answer. I called special reservations - and actually got them - usually the call ends up at central reservations even if I dial the special # -- they said that they had heard some rooms were being rehabbed to have two beds so that must be what we'll get. But they initially told me that all roll-in shower rooms have a king. Told them I don't want a reservation for a king room. They said don't worry. Should I call the hotel directly? I don't like to spend our vacation time trying to get a room that works. Leave in a few weeks. Getting nervous. Thanks

Zacsmom, I don't think you need to worry. By law, they must provide you with enough beds for the number in your party, without charging you any more than if you had a non-HA room. This means that you will either get one room with enough bedding in to sleep all of your party (providing it is no larger than 4 people + 1 infant under three), or you will be given two adjoining rooms. If they decide to give you two rooms (this is not a certainty, but may happen), they are only allowed to charge you for one (as long as you would all have fitted into one standard room).

I hope all that makes sense. If not, I'm sure someone else here can explain it more clearly!

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

We have reservations in October. We have requested a roll-in shower. I was told by my TA that all roll-in HA rooms are king beds, but we will have the adjoining room also since there is a total of 4 in our party. I have double checked with our TA a few times to make sure our room is right. I have faith everything will be okay! ;)
