We have to cancel our trip to Disney in July for 4 because by then we will be 5:) . We are now looking into re-booking the trip for Dec. Anyone have any ideas if there are any accessibile rooms that will sleep 5 (2 adults, 2 childen and an infant??)We would really like to be able to stay somewhere where we don't have to take the bus. DS loves the monorail, and the boats but does not do well waiting for the bus. In the past we have stayed in the Dolphin using the teacher rate (DH and I are both teachers). Any ideas???Most of the hotels seem only to be able to book for 4 even though one is an infant and won't need a bed. Thanks in advance :D

I know the "regular" rooms at the Contemporary are designed to sleep up to five adults, with two queen-size beds and a "day bed". I also know that they do have accessible rooms, a couple of years ago I saw them gutting and redoing a room on 12 to make it accessible, but I don't know what it was like after they were done.

You might want to contact the Contemporary and Polynesian (they both have the largest rooms) directly, and give them your needs.

I know also that WL and AKL have rooms with a double (or queen) and a set of bunk beds. Normally a crib will be able to go into a room and does not count as an "extra person"

You mention need for an accessible room. One factor to consider is what you will have with you. A fixed or power chair or ECV takes up some space. A folding WC does not.

In any event, I would suggest contacting the hotel and asking for their "executive offices" and get either the Resident Manager or General Manager or their assistants; they can probably give you a better idea of what is available and room sizes, etc., than people at the front desk.

I know that every Disney resort has rooms to accomodate 5, as long as one is under three in a crib. I don't know about handicapped accessible rooms, but I would call CRO and ask when you have decided upon a resort.

With 3 small kids, I'm sure you will be spending most of your time in MK. I can highly recommend room 7188 in the North Garden Wing of the Contemporary, if you can transfer out of the chair to use a tub. This is a handicapped accessible room - but the bathroom doesn't have a roll-in shower - just the tub with grab bars. This is the first room on the first floor of the North Garden Wing, just a short hop from the main tower building - near the bus stops, and a very short walk to the MK.

Happy travels.

Try for a studio at Old Key West. The rooms are large and you will also get a microwave and small refrigerator. Good luck and have fun..

We are a family of 5 and our daughter is handicapped. As CRcrazy said, all rooms at WDW will accomodate 4 plus an one in a crib. Some of the smaller rooms would be tight with a crib and a chair I think.

We like the Polynesian. They have quite a few rooms that are accessible. The rooms are quite large and would fit your family easily. The building with most accessible rooms is a short walk to the TTC making it easy to catch the Epcot monorail. It is also easy to take the ferry back from the MK. If you're pushing a manual chair this is easier than pushing up the monorail ramp at the MK. Taking the monorail to the MK is a snap. You use the elevator in the main building to get to the 2nd floor and the monorail is right there.

Thank you for all the great suggestions. I have discussed them with "The family" and I think we are going to try for the POLY if the price is right. Thanks again, I knopw I can always count on you for good advice!!

Three years ago our family of 5 stayed in Dixie Landings. We had a room that slept 4 with an additional small bed for a 5th person under the bed closest to the door. It was good, plenty of room for us!!

The wheelchair fit nicely into a corner of the room as well.

One thing. We lifted our child into a non-accessible tub and toilet, as he was only 7 at the time. Hope this helps!!
