We travel with a friend who uses a large power wheelchair & have been to Nassau twice on the Wonder. I don't think any of the excursions are accessible unless you can transfer out of your scooter or wheelchair. Also the taxis are not accessible for people in wheelchairs unless they can transfer out into a regular seat. Atlantis , Paradise Island has accessible areas, but getting there in a wheelchair from the cruise ships is impossible. Most of the island ports don't have accessible transportation..maybe some day they will. Hope this helps. Cathie
You can drive the scooter off the ship and down the pier to the straw market, which is ramped, although a little cramped in places...Try to be one of the first off the ship to avoid the slow-walking shoppers...There are no vehicles to transport the scooter unless a miracle has happened since last May, and no accessible excursions. When I got bored looking at the straw market I decided to explore the city on my own and it was NOT easy...broken sidewalks everywhere, few curb cuts, broken curb cuts, sandy areas and a Bahamian version of the running of the bulls when I had to drive in the street to go around an obstacle.... I'll be there again on November 7th (on a, gasp, foreign cruise line...HAL...) and I'll see if they offer anything better. This is a Service Dog training cruise so it's not like they don't know that access will be an issue...
Oops, one more thing...A couple of people in the group of us on the Freewheelin' Cruise last May went to Atlantis on their own and had a good time. You might contact Chet at www.cruisinco.com about his Atlantis adventure and he can tell you how he got there....
