Hi we are thinking of taking our mini suitcases as our hand luggage as fit into the virgin size requirments do you think that this is ok? It just seems so big for hand luggage?

Have taken DD's Disney roll along (the ones you can buy in the Disney shops here) with no problems.

Depends what size they are, also whether they can fit in an overhead locker or under the seat in front of you, my son takes his mini case as hand luggage no problem but if they are much bigger then you may be asked to check them in

As long as the cases comply with Virgin's hand luggage restrictions you won't have a problem. Max size is 9"x14"x22" and max weight is 13lb. It's worth bearing in mind that suitcases tend to weigh more than say backpacks, so you can't fit as much in without going overweight. :)

We took one "trolley dolly" rollalong, one flight bag, one backpack and the kids each had tiny backpacks. Virgin are not too fussed (as long as you don't take the p**s) - otherwise they wouldn't hand out extra backpacks full of goodies to all the kids :cool1:

I usually take a backpack on as hand luggage - which always touches the 6kg mark due to the unofficial guide and passporter I insist on re-reading on the flight :0)
This year I'm going to do the small suitcase thing as it will be housing my wedding dress! Just need to write down the measurements so I can go buy one... and then convince my DH2B that he needs to carry the books in his back pack... :rolleyes1

can you fit your dress into the suitcase? I have my wedding dress to take too and am still debating how to get it to disney!!! I am having it steamed when i get to disney so in theory it wouldnt bother it if i 'squeezed' it into hand luggage but i am still nervous at that idea of doing that!!! :scared:

Though i have heared horror stories about other luggage being lost! eak!

Speak to the airline before you leave. Sometimes they will allow you to carry a wedding dress "as is" onto the aircraft, and will store it for you in a special storage area. :sunny:

The alternative is for him to carry the wedding dress, and suppose he accidentally saw it, or the case broke open and everyone thought it was HIS dress?.... ;) :rotfl2:

When I took my wedding dress I had to pack it in the case, Virgin will not let you take it on as is, so I think it's a good idea to try and put it in your carry on case.

How much would a fully packed large suitcase weight, I know this depends on what in say just clothes

With Virgin you're allowed 2 x 32 kg cases for each passenger :-)

Bathroom scales are always a good bet, usually the night before your flight. Also beware the 'Rigid Cases'. The label on my new one says 5.5kg weight even before filling!!!
