hairbrush and bobbles.
then i have to take ipods, ds x4 (one for dh) +games.

We normally take things like hand sanitizer, paracetomol/brufen/rennies, wet wipes.
I don't think you will be allowed to take deodorants in hand luggage - unless you get a roll on or something - or even the deodorant wipes that you can get now.
We also take some boiled sucky sweets to help with the take off and landing.
If we are staying in a hotel overnight we take tooth brushes and scrunchies/sponges in the hand luggage but bin them at the hotel, making sure we have new ones for use in Florida then bin them as well before coming home.

I'll assume you want it in hand luggage because you don't want to have to pull your suitcases apart but might it be worth packing all the stuff you want for your first night in a bag and then popping that at the top of a suitcase?

As long as you knew which case it was in all you'd have to do is unzip, whip out the pre-packed bag and re-zip without having to actually unpack anything else.

That way you don't have to worry about liquids, hand luggage weight, etc etc.

Just an alternative idea :) Mainly born from me being lazy as I hate carting around anything but minimum hand luggage!

tbh, i am taking a full change in the hand luggage as my kids are bound to needto change before we get off the plane (food=stains:rotfl2:)
if we dont need them fab, if not they are there.
i might put everythingin 1 of the cases, but i was going to have a "sacrificied" hand luggage (we are oohh and arr ing between taking 3 or 4 hand luggages, plus my handbag and possibly the laptop... im not sure whether to take this, as we wont be paying for wifi at wdw and there is a computer at the villa for check in on line...
kenny, i would take painkillers anyway, i should add im on tramadol at themo for stomach pains, though hopefully the gastroenterologist willbe able to find out what the problems is before we go...
asthma medecin for josh and mini first aid kid for everyone else.
i just think im missing something really obvious:confused3

I would put the extra things in hold luggage as Disneymad suggested. When you arrive in Orlando you are hot and tired. 6kg hand luggage feels like 20 by the time you get up to the monorail! Also the hassle of making sure you have taken out all your liquids for security is something you could probably do without if at all possible. Most liquid type essentials come in wipes and I am a great fan of these. In fact, I always have a pack of baby wipes with me and that is all we need. The unscented ones are great for freshening up, wiping hands (and faces ;)), and they even remove make up if necessary and are great for lifting fresh stains out of clothing. I only keep a spare shirt in the hand luggage for DD and I put it in her bag so she is responsible for it. I do also take spare socks as we have a habit of walking about/sitting on the plane in our socks  and who knows what is on those carpets :scared1:. Before descent we remove them, put on the clean ones, replace our shoes and bin the old ones.

Similarly for toothbrushes, we take our old ones with from home and I leave the new replacements in the bathroom. We use them the night before we fly at the hotel and then bin them, having packed new ones for when we get there.

You might also want to take a hairbrush or comb, but otherwise I think you have it covered.

Looks like you've thought of most things

small (100ml) sun cream for when you arrive

thanks guys:lovestruc
im trying to get motivated to pack this week, as i wont really get time after this week, but despite it feeling really now that we are going, cant get motivated!!

When are you leaving? I thought you were going in August  You're not one of those people who packs a few months early and then puts the cases in the loft .....

Do your kids help with their own packing? Maybe you could give them a list of things to sort and set aside and then let them check each others' items against the list - if they are old enough. ;)

We ONLY travel with hand luggage - here's what we'd do differently to you:

- One cardigan that goes with everything; wear a jumper on the plane.
- Large scarf (pashmina) saves a lot of "layers" and is better than those horrid airplane blankets.
- Buy a book at the airport.
- Buy sweets, cereal bars etc. at the airport - they always have a Boots, and you won't need much for a 9 hour flight anyway.
- USB travel charger (like this one, but I paid about £6 for mine - it's the same one). This means you only have ONE plug, just take the relevant USB charging cables for your phone, iPod, cameras etc. - saves tonnes of space.
- Wear all your largest items e.g. trainers (pack flip flops) and jumpers.
- We take no toiletries and buy it all when we get there BUT we did find it useful this year to have a small tube of toothpaste as you can get by on the hotel supplies overnight.
- Be realistic about what you need. They sell painkillers, plasters etc. in Orlando - often cheaper than in the UK - and chances are you won't need any anyway.
- Buy sun cream when you get there. It's no more expensive.

;):thumbsup2
wow kath, respect!! only handluggage???

i have just spoken to AA and they say we have 18kgx5 for HL so might join you in the HL only team:rotfl2:

I think im going to follow your advicem, i have brought a neck brace thingy, we all will be wearing layers (t shirt/cardi/sweater) roll up trousers or 3/4s for us all too.
i m going to buy some cheap socks from primark to keep feet warm, they can just be binned before we get off the flight.
well all be wearing crocs, so no cold feet here;)
i might buy a nice pashmine, can double as a wrap when doing a/c either for me or dd.
i have decided also to put the stuff i need in a bag in the suitcase, so carrying a minimum onto the plane.
add ds's ipods books crayons snacks drinks etc, and we ll be weighed down enough...i will take a change for dd and a clean t for everyone else, baby wipes and everything else will go in suitcases....
im trying to get organised , but idrather be on here than actually doing it
