Just sorting out what to pack for my 2 DD's in their hand luggage, what are the restrictions like now from manchester? can anyone tell me?, are they allowed to take food through to the departure lounge or not :confused3. Soooo excited now 3wk's today we'll almost be there :yay: :yay: :yay:

Food is ok through security but liquids are still 100ml bottles that can fit into a sealable clear plastic bag no bigger than 20cm by 20cm, which can then go into the one piece of hand luggage allowed.

Full details here.

Claire ;)

Is there anything in particular you want to pack for them that can't be purchased airside? Personally I am adverse to carrying things further than I need to which is why I ask :)

We always take a small picnic with us to airport now, especially when travelling with Virgin, their food has gone downhill so much it is not edible sometimes.

We always eat breakfast before we board but personally I always quite enjoy the food, and eat like a king on the plane as DW is really fussy about eating it so I often get double :teeth:

We generally just buy some water and snacks when we get airside to see her through the journey.

My 2 DD's are always hungry  honestly I do feed them!! :rotfl: :rotfl: I think the eldest one has hollow legs :lmao: , so it'll just be snacks to keep them going ;) , we will have breakfast at Manchester as we plan on leaving home early and there's no way I'm doing breakfast I'm on my holiday's

When you consider the logistics I think it's pretty impressive that airlines manage to serve anything even resembling food. If I don't like what they serve, then I can't get overly excited about it. It's not like I'm never going to eat again.

Of course, if you have very little ones, then it's important that they eat, so I can understand the reason for the OP's question.

I actually think the kids meal is great with virgin and would like one myself:yay: Our dd is 4 but we always take crisps and fruit bags (as I don't think you can take any fruit through when you land),As she has a ds lite I am going to buy her a game and give it to her on the flight so she has something new to play.We are flying PE outbound so she will be excited anyway.Don't forget they have their free backpack so we tend to put her things in our hand luggage and transfer it over when she gets her bag.Have a fab time-looking forward to your trip report. We tend to have a bacon sarni at the airport so it keeps us going till the meal on the plane which I have always liked.:dance3: :grouphug: :woohoo:

We always take snacks and DS's Nintendo DS too:lmao: :lmao: In fact we've been saving up our Nectar points to get him a couple of new games before we go. He also has another battery and a screwdriver for it (which we take in the suitcase) then he has plenty of power in it to play with it in the hotel room and on the journey home. So in about another 4-5 weeks we will see what's in stock and get them for him, he can have them on the way to the airport:thumbsup2 We will take crisps, sweets and get juice at the airport for him it should keep him satisfied.
