Hi,
I haven't been on the boards for a while so I'm not sure if this has already been posted. We fly to Orlando on Saturday from Manchester airport with travel city everyone keeps on about not taking liquids etc on board which is fine. But does anyone know if we are allowed cameras, phones, video cameras, ipods etc in our hand luggage or if these still have to be packed in cases :confused3
Any info anyone has would be much appreciated :thumbsup2

yes you can take everything you could take before other than liquids/gels and aerosols.

Thanks ! :thumbsup2 I just didn't want to get there and then have to try and shove it in my case at the last minute! :)

This is what we thought - returned home yesterday (saturday 2/9). However, when we arrived at check in at Manchester 2 weeks ago (18/8) - everything had to be packed in our cases - cameras, camcorders, pens, headache tablets - the lot. This was just after they changed the rule from clear plastic bags to allowing hand luggage again but still we had to pack everything away there at the check in desk. On our return flight with Travelcity, once again we packed everything - but maybe the ruling changed again whilst we were away.

I see lip balm is not permitted on board, does anyone know if you can buy this in duty free to take on the plane with you? Either stick lip balm or small vaseline pot - I don't think my lips would survive for over 9 hours in that dry air!!

on the way out from the UK I dont think you can right now..
they checked us again at the gate and were doing random bag checks.

To be honest with you - the chances of something like that getting found is pretty small... not that Im advising you to break the law or anything! ;)

I have a feeling - well this is what they told me at MCO on the way back that you can take a stick like a lipstick that is solid.. but not a gel..
not sure if thats the case.

I was worried about my lips but they were fine btw..! :)

Will an unopened packet of Jelly Babies be ok do you think? They do have something of a gel-like consistency! Crisps I'd think were ok yeah, nothing liquidy about them is there? I'm guessing a home made sandwich wouldn't be allowed (Scott hates airplane food and always makes sandwiches)?

I'm interested to know about the home made sandwiches... I thought food was allowed just not liquids.

And what about solid vaseline - you know the little blue pots you use for lip balm?

We fly out two months from today... I'm kinda hoping they relax things by then... otherwise we've gotta go buy some new bags as all of ours are too big for the new hand luggage restrictions!

Not sure if things have changed again.

pigby we must have been on the same flight as you from Manchester.

I couldn't believe they were letting us take bags on the flight, but nothing much in them :confused3 . When we checked in at Manchester we were told we couldn't take anything electrical, no medicine (unless prescribed by doctor), not even travel sick pills as they hadn't been prescribed, no books etc.
On the way home from Sanford we did the early check in and was told we could take gameboys etc on board (of course no liquids). At Sanford airport they were fine with the boys having gameboys with them coming home- just had to put them through the x-ray machine.

We were able to buy crisps after Customs to take on the flight to Sanford, bought Walkers crisps at the British shop at Old Town to take on the flight home. (My youngest only eats certain foods)

We had prescribed liquid medicine for my son about 8oz bottle and a supporting letter from our doctor to say what the medicine was and who it was for, both Manchester and Sanford checked we had a letter to support having so much liquid medicine.

Hope you have a great holiday :thumbsup2

i was wondering about sandwiches/food my youngest son won't eat airplane food either .

Probably was the same flight - and then they didn't have enough pens to allow people to complete their visa waiver forms!

We swallowed our travel sickness pills there and then at the check in desk. Didn't find out about what we were allowed on the way back - packed everything again, just in case.

Arieliwish - I wouldn't bank on them not finding a small tub of lip salve - they looked through my bag with a fine tooth comb - they'll bin it if they find it.
