I am going to disney in the beginning in July. Being from NY, I am not used to the heat(it gets like 80 degrees usually on really hot days in summer)! I was wondering if those hand fans that squirt water help? WHERE DO YOU BUY THEM ? What else helps to keep you cool?

Wow Donna, you must live on the shore because here in the city it gets a lot hotter than 80 degrees in the summer! LOL

You can buy those water misting fans in places like Walmart. Only problem is they're kinda big and bulky. On my last trip to DW I purchased a small fan that I can wear around my neck. These little personal size fans can also be purchased at places like Walmart.

The best way to beat the heat is to start early in the morning, hit up your favorite rides and by lunch time head back to your hotel and hit the pool. Later in the day when it starts to cool off some head back to the parks to ride the rest of the rides you missed in the morning.

Have a good time on your trip!

We caved and bought them in the parks. Very, VERY expensive, but we are so happy we did and we'll be bringing them for repeat trips. But yeah, they are very bulky, I wouldn't recommend them unless you had a stroller or something that you would be leaving behind to go on rides.

I live in Buffalo, and the heat gets to me in WDW as well. I bought one of the fans in the parks a few years back ($16 then, more now, I believe). It broke, and my mom bought one at Wal Mart for like $5, a steal.

Admittedly, unless my mom was carrying the thing, I did without. Call me lazy, but I hated dragging that thing around. IMO, there are other ways to beat the heat without lugging that sucker around for 12-14 hours (HoP three times, anyone?).

However, if you do bring one, and you don't mind carrying it, here's a tip. First thing in the morning, my mom fills the jug with ice. By the time we get to the parks, much of the ice is melted, and it feels way better than the lukewarm water from drinking fountains. When we stopped for lunch or dinner, she would ask for a cup of ice (CMs will gladly give you a cup of ice, or even tap water if you ask, BTW), to refill it. I cannot tell you how good that felt in 100-degree July.
