I've noticed lately a repetitive use of hand gestures by two prominent men when addressing groups of people. Our own Prime Minister (Canada) tends to place one hand over his heart. The President of the USA tends to touch his index finger with his thumb, extending the other three fingers outward.
I have often found myself making a peace sign
(showing MY age) My father at times put his hand to his forehead in a sort of salute (He was a WWII Vet) My mom waved much like most Victorian Era young ladies did.
You, or yours?
Just remembered a cute story. My husband drove school bus for a few years when he first retired. In his first year while at a meeting to air grievances, he expressed concern over one of his students mother's giving him the finger almost DAILY. The other drivers looked at him in disbelief, and shock. He then proceeded to say that almost every day when he picks up teen aged Jane (my name to protect the innocent) her mom appears in the doorway with her finger up, asking for him to wait a minute..
