anyone ever stay here for a night? Looking for a clean SAFE one night before universal. Parking lot safe?

Try booking a hotel on Palm Parkway. Closer to Universal and many hotels to choose from including a Hampton.

I don't think it's closer to universal. Isn't that the one near Disney Springs? Reviews for the one I'm asking about say 5 minutes to universal.

Sorry, being a local, I drive the quickest ways with less traffic! To get to Universal from Palm Parkway, go east on Palm Parkway which will turn into Turkey Lake Rd-cross over Sand Lake turn right when you get to Kirkman Rd and follow signs to Universal. (You will be able to see the back of Universal while driving on Turkey LakeRd)

Much less traffic this way and you don't have to deal with I 4.

Thank you Christmas elf. Am I thinking of the right road? Is palm the one with the Bresort?
OK looked on map. Any suggestions on a Marriott based hotel that you may pass? Looking to avoid the resort/parking fees if I can
What about Courtyard orlando international drive/convention center?

It's only about 5 miles from the Hampton Inn on John Young Parkway to Universal. That trip doesn't involve I-4. If you found a good rate there, it's not a bad location. There might be some local traffic in the morning, as there are business parks between the hotel and Universal. But, the trip would likely not take more than 15 minutes.

That said, there should be many convenient options along International Drive or Universal Blvd that wouldn't have parking or resort fees. The Courtyard I-Drive/Convention Center is about 3 miles from Universal. That hotel is about 3 miles from Universal.

Other Marriott options include Fairfield Inn I-Drive/Convention Center, Residence Inn Convention Center, and the SpringHill Suites I-Drive/Convention Center. All three of those are on Universal Blvd. Basically, you make a left out of the hotel and drive straight to get to Universal.

I can't give any personal recommendations with Marriott hotels. But, one of the best stays I've had at any hotel was at the Hampton Inn I-Drive/Convention Center (at 8900 Universal Blvd). The room was spotless and staff was incredible.

I am a local... I would not stay in that area.

There are several hotels right out side the gate, Holiday Inn, Double tree, and 1 or 2 lights down there is a Hampton Inn that sit right off Kirkman, and a couple of other brands.

I agree I would go with something on Palm parkway, there are a lot of restaurants and Publix store for any last minute needs. Or somewhere on I-drive. I will agree about the Hampton inn on I-Drive and convention center would be a nice spot. Some co-workers of my DH stayed here before checking in to Disney and we took them to dinner. Very nice

I will say do not leave your luggage in the car anywhere you stay, no matter where you stay. To much of a chance of something happening.

Not leaving luggage is the issue. The car will be packed with college move in stuff. That's why safety is top concern.

Courtyard convention center ok? Looks to be close on palm Pkwy.

There is a Residence Inn by Marriott on Marbella Palm Ct off of Palm Prkway that would be a safer area for a packed car than I Drive would be. This area is a lot quieter.
That being said, anything could happen anywhere nowadays it seems.
But, definitely try not to stay on I drive if possible.
