laurajetter said:Never heard of Hamburg, except the city. Now that I am thinking about it, why is it called HAMburger anyway if it comes from a cow?!![]()
It was named after the city of Hamburg, Germany, where it originated. It was a ground beef patty called Hamburger Steak that German immigrants brought over. I thinkthe bun got added in the USA, but I'm not sure...will have to consult MArc Summers.
Hot Dog = Frankfurter....same deal, named after the city in Germany.

. But to me, hamburger is a sandwich, and not a type of meat (although I know what people are talking about when they say it).
This is so funny! I thought my Mommom was the only person who said, "Hamburg"
