We are a family of licensed amateur radio operators. My husband wonders if anyone has any experience using ham radios at WDW. Specifically it'd be great to know if there are any repeaters which we could hit with a handheld radio. Also, how do locals using those repeaters feel about tourists connecting with each other on them.

We'll be there starting Saturday -

N9AKO (Karen), K9OX (Ward), KD7MPA (Pat), KD7MPE (Chris)

I'm also curious about how well family radios work at the parks.

Thanks for your help.

We have used ham radio hand helds in the parks with no problem. Also talk to many hams in the orlando area, as usual a friendly bunch.Hubby always has his repeater book with him to track them down.
With so many people using the family radios you might experience some double use of channels. The ham hand held will probably be better if you have them.
