Me and my girlfriend are arriving on Oct 18 and we are planning on going to California Grill that night (assuming we get a reservation). She is really excited about watching the fireworks from the observation deck but i found out that the Not so Scary party is going on that night and therefore it will be hallowishes instead of regular wishes. My question is, how different is hallowishes? I want it to still be somewhat "romantic" and i heard that they pipe the music in, but my thinking is that fireworks are fireworks.

Any thought are appreciated!

We love both of these fireworks displays. However, I will say that Wishes, at least for me, is much more romantic. A lot of that is the music (they play Halloween-themed music), but some of it is the color scheme of the fireworks, which tends toward oranges and greens (Halloween colors) rather than blues and pinks that I think of as Disney. I would say HalloWishes is a little more mysterious, and Wishes is a little more romantic. They are both magical!

I absolutely LOVE Hallowishes. DH and I watched it during our wedding night dinner at Ohana and you just wouldn't believe how much I was grinning. We also watched it up close during MNSSHP and after the show was over the guy next to us thanked me for being entertaining because I was singing along during the entire show. :rotfl: I find it to be really romantic, but I love Halloween and Hallowishes is by far my favorite fireworks show. DH loves it too. That being said, if Halloween isn't your or her thing I think Wishes would be more romantic. The music is lighter and the overall theme is more "romantic." Hallowishes' music is more rock and a more "darker" theme. I would check out videos on youtube. I also have plenty of pictures of the show. They're not the best of quality because I used a cellphone, but I'd gladly post some!

I agree that Wishes would probably be more romantic, but Hallowishes is a bigger scale show with what they call perimeter fireworks. From the Cali Grill you will be able to see the full breadth of the show, when on the ground watching in the park you are totally engulfed by the fireworks all around you. As for the music, for HalloWishes think Villains, with lots of music from Nightmare Before Christmas and Ursula, Cruela, Facilier, Scar, etc. For Wishes think, Princesses, fairy tales and lullabyes. Very traditional, I love both, but HalloWishes the most! I would try to do Cali Grill on a regular night and buy tickets for MNSSHP.

I agree with everyone else, Wishes is most likely more romantic, but I'm actually not a huge fan of Wishes. I much prefer Hallowishes.

Seen both from California Grill and Hallowishes is bigger and better and quite the show from up there. I would then catch Wishes from in front of the Castle.
