Universal holds the largest Halloween event in the state, if not the country, Halloween Horror Nights. It's mostly haunted houses and street entertainment. Whether or not there's a parade depends on which park it's held in. They can't hold parades in IOA, but there's a good chance HHN will be returning to USF this year. No fireworks.

The other parades Universal holds are Mardi Gras and the Macy's Christmas parade. Fireworks are done throughout summer, July 4th, and New Year's.

depending on your child, this event could scar them forever. Universal makes movies, and they use their special effects and makeup tricks. it's very intense, and I would not suggest it for an 8 year old. people from all over the world plan their UO vacations around HHN. it's extremely popular. but it is in no means meant for children.

WDW has a great halloween event, mickey's not so scary halloween. we go to that every year as well. seaworld also has a nice party.

Universal Studios Halloween Horror nights is *NOT* recomended for children under 13.

Halloween Horror Nights in IOA shows Marvel Super Hero Island being taken over by EVIL!!! It has scary mazes and stuff like that, but it doesn't have any Super Heros, they've been executed!!!NO  :confused3 :smooth: :badpc: :furious:

don't take an 8 year old to hhn.

it is advertised this is not a children's event.

i completely and totally love and addicted to HHN. i can tell you this is not the place to bring young children. the scareactors do not have to dummy down their role just because a youngster is there.

the park is very dark in places, scareactors in doing their role will jump out and scare you, chainsaws are loud, beer is flowing all over, you will encounter drinking adults, lines are tremendous for the houses and top rides.....................just not the place for kiddos.

if you plan to go to universal during the hard ticket event, go in the daytime with the child. use a babysitting in room service for the evening and return to the park for hhn.

the last few years, i have seen some families bringing children to hhn.
during bill and teds last year, 4 families with kids 10 and under got up and left. they didn't like the language and attire of the actors. 2 dads complained to the employee (in front of where i was sitting) of the crassness of this show. hello......weren't you listening to the annoucements and posted signs before entering......"rare language, scanty attire will be seen, for mature audience only, do not enter if this offends you " notices.
and the men insisted on getting a refund as they were leaving the park.

i would think a youngster would have nightmares if a parent took them to hhn.

stick with taking the kids to the parks in the daytime if you go in october during hhn times.

Thanks
I will not be taking my 8 year old there

We are going to do the MK party far better for children

any one done the sea world party

When do the dates for HHN come out? Are they always on Fri, Sat and Sun nights in Oct?

last year the dates came out in latter part of july.

it is fr/sa/su for the first two weekends.

then weekdays are added after columbus day.

if you check the hhn calendar of last year you will see what i mean

the event ends at midnight on non peak nights, which are the weekdays and sundays.

I'm thinking that HHN is at IOA this year because calander shows IOA closing early those days but not US.

The first year that HHN moved to IOA, the calendar showed the Studios closing early on HHN nights up until just a month or so before the event.

Wow glad I read this thread I had no IDEA it was that bad. I was going to take DDs 8 and 10. Thought there would be something for kids. :sad2: I will not be taking them now. Definately not. :sad2: :sad2: We are going to MNSSHP though so they wont miss ou on Halloween events.

you are a very wise parent magicmouse.

the last 5 years i am amazed at the parents that bring kids under the age of 16 to HHN.

i have even seen littles in strollers...........

i always wonder what is wrong with those moms and dads to do that to their children.

scareactors scare everyone !!
