Well we got the ball rolling today on our move south.......I emailed the rental company to find out our options since our lease is up at the end of July, I need to put in a 30 day notice & we have no clue exactly when we'll be moving......

I explained that we're getting this refund, but can't pinpoint when we'll receive it. Hopefully they'll let us put in our notice for the lease end of July 31st & then let us extend our stay until the money shows up.

Mike's definitely ready to move on......so I told him to start pursuing job openings down south. He might need to go ahead of us......so anyone in the Sac area need a roommate for a short time???? Mike's a great cook....just saying......lol

I'm assuming you're asking how the thing went with the rental company?

I got an email back yesterday stating that once we put in a 30 day notice, they look for new renters.....if they find them....we can't extend out & stay past our notice. So we will not be able to put notice in until we actually have the money in hand. If we don't ask to sign a new lease at the end of July.......we automatically go to month to month for $200 more a month!! But we really don't have any other options.

Mike has found a couple Safeway Meat Mgr jobs in the Sac area that he's applying for & has the transfer paperwork being signed by the Store Director where he works now......so that's good. It would be great if he could get a mgr position......he could set his own schedule & take vacation when HE wants!! lol So keep your fingers & toes crossed that he gets a job offer.

So now we sit & wait for the check in the mail & to hear if he can secure a new position. If he gets a job before the money comes in.....I'll have to send him ahead.... (and not sure how we can afford rent in 2 places either). I can only pray that everything falls into place.........check, job offer all within a couple weeks of each other!!

Thanx Bridget!!! Unfortunately, you can't use the "Where's My Refund" feature on ammendments. We had already filed our regular returns & got back our refund (that's how I was able to go on the Diva's trip). We filed the ammendment & included a ton of extra paperwork showing the girls adoption & special needs status. We've never received a letter saying it's under further review (which I think is a good sign). It says it takes 6-8 weeks with proper paperwork........so here's to hoping we're in that category since we haven't heard anything!!!! If that's that case we could have the check anytime now. Our tax gal said it could take 4-6 months.......so we figured by summer's end......but maybe we'll be one the few lucky ones that had absolutely everything they could possibly need to do our return!!

Well we were really set & looking seriously at the Sacramento area, researching schools, rentals, etc. BUT.......there are no meat cutting or meat manager positions available thru Safeway in that area anymore. The closest to Sac is Truckee & that would be a bit too cold for me.

So Mike is looking at these current openings: Campbell, Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Chula Vista & La Mesa.

Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Will update again when I have any news.

I wish the rent prices in Southern Cali weren't so high.......I'd love to be within an hours drive of DL!!!! I could meet up with everybody that came down....that would be soooooooooooo AWESOME!!

I don't know what the weather is like in the Campbell area.....I know I don't want to be in the Bay Area.....can't stand the wind. Need to be somewhere a bit warmer.....that's one of the reasons for relocating.

Well, Campbell is in the south bay. More like in the San Jose area. I don't think they get quite the heat we do here.
