Honestly I have done the parties tons of times but this year ain't cutting it. It's 730. Some Characters still aren't out. Trick or treat lines are crazy long. Total waste of time. I wouldn't do it again and we never had issues before.

We went last year on the first night and it was definitely disorganized. I think it takes a few parties for them to pull it together which is unfortunate for the early party goers.

I have only gone to parties on holidays. I went two years on Labor Day. I only go to Christmas party during thanksgiving. I am an AP holder who only goes during holidays. I know crowds.

I just think this isn't worth the price today. It didn't used to be this bad. Just my opinion.

It is definitely more crowded right now at the party than it was today in th MK in the middle of the day. We are in a 30min mine train line now...which is how long it was today when we rode. And the walkways are way more congested .

I remember the same issues last year. People though they sold too many tickets, it was too crowded, long lines etc. People felt if you are paying for a ticketed event, it should guarantee low crowds.

OP sorry you don't seem to be having fun.

For those wondering I just checked the wait times and almost everything expect a hand full of rides is less then 30 minutes. Fireworks are in 20 minutes so that could have something to do with it.

They were when we came in and were sitting down for the parade but haven't seen them checking since then.

The usually stop after the first parade or so since they figure they caught everyone and want you to be able to enjoy your night.

Really crowded even with the rain? I would imagine that would have kept away those who had not yet purchased tickets. Did it sell it out?

They don't run the Christmas parade over Thanksgiving. Crowds are too big to close the parks early for a hard ticket event.

I'm sorry you experienced some glitches. Since they don't give a discount for going on opening night, they really should have it together on the first night.

That had nothing to do with the Headless Horseman though. For the safety of horse and rider, he doesn't ride when it's been raining and the street might be slick.

I'm looking forward to our first MNSSHP on the 11th. I hope by the 3rd party they have glitches straightened out!

Agree - I was there last night and I am not sure I would pay to go again. I think they really oversold it. I have been to multiple parties in the past. My kids and I stayed until 11:30. We took two photo pass photos, trick or treated twice, watched the parade from frontierland, watched a villains show (bad view), did fireworks, got two snacks, rode Peter Pan, and rode the teacups. I couldn't believe there was a half hour wait for Peter Pan after the fireworks. We were at MK three days this vacation and each day was far less crowded.

It's too bad the first party this year (and last year) seemed to be so crowded and disorganized. We did the first party, on Labor Day, in 2014. It was our 4th MNSSHP and by far the least crowded. In fact afterwards reports and reviews said something like just over half the tickets allotted for the party were sold and it totally seemed that way. Everything was a walk on except 7DMT (very new then) until 11:15 when the wait dropped to 20; great spot for first parade about 10 minutes prior and then for 2nd parade which we didn't plan on watching, we happened upon tons of spots right by the rope so decided to watch again. ToT lines were on the short side and kept moving. The only time we felt congested was in front of the castle for HalloWishes but that's to be expected since everyone in the park wanted to be there. Don't know what happened between 2014-15 but I guess the lesson learned is no more attending the first party of the season :(

I'm surprised they don't charge extra for opening night. I believe the price is the same as most of September (which is less than the October pricing). Since many people want to be the first to do something, they could probably get away with a $5 or $10 increase for the first night or weekend.

I don't think it did. Even now there haven't been reports. The weather being iffy could've had something to do with it.

The first night of MNSSHP is almost always a disaster. It's well-attended by locals and in addition to all the tickets Disney sells, they add another few hundred media members for the media preview stuff. Also, with such high turnover with CMs (especially via the college program), there's not a ton of CMs at that first party who have worked it before, so they're learning on the fly.

I'm sorry the OP had a bad night, but I hope no one thinks their party later in the party season will be nearly as chaotic as the first party.

I don't understand how Disney lets this happen year after year.
