I could use some ideas from all of you creative people.
DD has a Girl Scout Halloween party to go to. She is supposed
to bring a creative Halloween treat. I've got a few ideas but
most of them are pretty lame. :confused3 Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

I've seen several interesting Halloween snacks over the years. You could make jello in creepy shapes. I know I've seen an anatomically correct heart mold somewhere, and if you use red jello mixed with a bit of OJ you get a very convincing color!

You can also take pointed ice cream cones and decorate them as witch hats. Coat them in black frosting and add star-shaped sprinkles, etc. If you want you can fill the cones with pudding or cake.

The one I was going to use is:

take a ritz cracker and spread peanut butter OR cream cheese on it. top with another cracker...the take 8 pretzel sticks and insert 4 into each side of the crackers, into the peanut butter or cream cheese to make snackie spiders.

Hope that's not too lame...go to www.kraftfoods.com for other great halloween ideas.

Sandra Lee did a show this weekend on the Food Network with all sorts of treats - they usually list them on Food Network.com.

Use cocoa krispies to make chocolate rice krispie treats, but put them in a pie pan instead. Build some up around the sides like a pie crust. Then, put some peanut butter in a plastic baggies. Cut the tip off to use it like an icing tube. Start in the middle and make circles around the 'pie' working your way outward. Take a toothpick and drag it through the circles starting from the inside and working your way out. If you do about six or seven of these going around the circle you've made a spider web on top of the treats. You can decorate the top with those plastic spider rings to be extra cute. The pieces can be cut out like a pie.
I know it is hard to visualize without a picture but it is really cute!

Thanks for these ideas! They all sound great. The spiders are not lame at all! They sound very cute & easy. The pie sounds, as my DD would put it,
Cool!! The jello heart sounds interesting too. This group of girls seems to
be into the grosser the better! I knew I could count on this board for good ideas. Thanks!! :teeth:

I found a few cute recipes to cook for a party we went to. Here are the links to the recipes. I'm not sure how to show the pictures on the thread.

The last link for the chocolate mice turned out the best!! They looked VERY real - it was almost gross (very impressive). My kids were very impressed with these.

I read through all the reviews and made some changes that they suggested. I could not find chocolate vanilla wafers, so I crumbled Oreos in the food processor and used those (12 cookies equaled 1 cup crumbs). I cut caramel squares into 5 pieces and rolled each piece into a snake for the tails. I pulled most of the tails through some powdered sugar to give them a more muted color. Most of the mice I dipped in Oreo cookie crumbs, but I did do a few of them in powdered sugar. I also could not find the silver balls for eyes, so I poked eye holes with a toothpick and for most I put a dot of white icing (with toothpick) and then used tweezers to put a red "sprinkle" into the hole. After a while I just dropped a sprinkle into the hole and pressed down so that it was a beady eye (I did that for all the powdered sugar ones). I also poked holes before I stuck the tails in and that helped. :earsboy:

I am doing this:

Clear food worker gloves, put a candy corn in each finger and fill glove with popcorn. Tie at wrist with orange or black yarn. For a final touch, place a spider ring on the ring finger. HTH!

How about
Edible eyeballs - make Rice Krispie Treats and form them into balls, about 1 or 2 inches across. Add a pastel M&M or other small round candy for the iris and dot the candy with frosting or gel for the pupil.

Creepy Punch - just take a latex glove and fill with any red colored punch and freeze. Remove the latex and float in white grape juice or any light colored punch. Don't worry if a finger falls off while removing the latex, just makes it more creepy.

Spider Dip Bowl - 2 loaves frozen Sweet Dough, thawed; 2 raisins; 1 egg, beaten. Form one loaf into a round ball for body. With other loaf form a small round ball (about one eighth of loaf) and 8 strips and roll into ropes for legs. Place small round ball above body (for the head). Place legs under head and upper body. Place raisins on head for eyes. Place on a large cookie sheet that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Brush with beaten egg and cover with plastic wrap coated with nonstick spray. Let rise 1-1/2 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size. Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove plastic wrap from spider and bake 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool on rack. Slice off top of body and hollow out. Line with lettuce and spoon in salsa or nacho dip. My kid prefers spinach dip or ranch.

Ghost Suckers - Tootsie Roll Pops, Kleenex (I prefer inexpensive white fabric cut into 8" squares with pinking shears) and Yarn or Thin Ribbon. Cover the Tootsie Pops with the kleenex, tie ribbon or yarn around the bottom of sucker around stick, with black marker dot two eyes. Done!! This is a great craft project to have on hand for a Halloween Party that the kids can make themselves.

This was a great fun and easy treat my DD (10 YO last year) made for their halloween party at school. It came from the American Girl Magazine.

The main ingredients are: The Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies, regular Chocolate Hershey's Kisses, and a tube of orange decorating frosting.

The goal is that they will resemble witch hats when done.

Take one of the cookies, and place it striped-side down. Put a little dab of the orange frosting on the flat side of a Kiss. Place the flat side of the kiss on top of the middle of the chocolate coated side of the cookie. Then take the orange frosting tube and make an orange bow outline. You can also do a quick circle around the edge where the Kiss meets the cookie - kind of like a ribbon on a hat.

You can also use green or purple frosting too.

My DD was just wondering today if we had the stuff to make these.
