I have a dilemma. I am planning the "big" family trip for our family along with my husband's for this year. They look to me to be the "expert" of course.

We/they/us are trying to decide between going for Halloween or going for the week before Christmas (like the Friday or Saturday of the week before to the day after). I went this past Halloween with my son and met up with my MIL and her boyfriend and we had a blast so we were really looking forward to doing it again this year and having the rest of the family go as well. But now there has been some interest in going at Christmas instead and making that the family "gift" and just something different to do for the holidays.

Everyone is looking to me on what to do. I don't KNOW what to do. I don't know what would be better. I know it will get busy toward the end of the week before Xmas but it will also be very beautiful with all the Christmas decorations, etc. Halloween was a blast though too and my four year old loved that.

They are basically wanting me to decide what would be better and going with my suggestion so we can start planning. I don't KNOW! HELP!!!

The week before Christmas is crowded but not like the week after Christmas. I say go at Christmas and enjoy the holiday decorations. We went last year and had an amazing time with our whole family.

Christmas is generally more of a family time than halloween too.

WOW

Nothing like a little pressure to pick the perfect vacation time for several family members.

Christmas is a wonderful time to go and MVMCP is terrific. October has Food and Wine Festival. Chances are weather will be nicer in October. etc...

If I were you I'd write a few pros and cons and what is available during each time along with estimated cost. Have everyone vote and majority wins.

Everything will probably work out fine and everyone can take credit but if for some reason there are problems the blame will not all fall on your shoulders.

You can use your expertise for all the other fun planning that will need to be done.
