Halloween in a rentel

We will be staying in Formosa Gardens the week of Halloween. At home we always do alot of decorating for the holiday DS LOVES Halloween. My DD is upset that we will be gone and feels she is missing out on Halloween. Do you think we could buy a pumpkin down there and carve it and put it out on the porch? Does anyone trick or treat in these neighborhoods?

I'm sure you could put a pumpkin out, but there may not be too many trick or treaters. I would check to see whether any of the malls have it like they do in many cities. That might be her best option.

Formosa Gardens isn't just short term rentals, actual families live there! So bring her costume and take her around and although the pumpkins are sometimes hard to find (try Publix) go ahead and carve one!

Our closest mall is about a 20 minutes drive away, exit 4 off 528

Great! sounds good. We live in Michigan and the pumpkin patches are overflowing here.

There is actually a pumpkin sale in Celebration at the Presp. Church, it's only about 10 minutes away.

Last year we opted for ceramic since *someone* waited too long to get pumpkins

Will it be hard to find a pumpkin October 29th? Thats when we will be able to buy one there.

We had friends stay at one of our homes for Halloween and they said they did have some trick or treaters come around. They felt bad, because they did not have any candy, but gave them money, if I remember correctly.
I am sure there may not be lots of kids, but I would think some. If I was going to be there over Halloween, I would pick up a bag of candy, just in case.

Our homes are in Emerald Island and it is 99% short term rentals and vacation homes. Formosa Gardens probably may have more permanent residents, so you may even find more trick or treating in that community.

We spent Halloween in a rental home in Orlando in 2003. The development we were in was very, very empty. So, Trick or Treating wouldn't of really of been an option there. It appeared that maybe only 15% of the homes were "year round" residence's.

Another thought, have you considered Mickey's Not So Very Scary Halloween Party? I haven't been, but I think that would probably be the ultimate Halloween!

We are actually going to MNSSHP on Oct. 28th. It is the "tradition" of carving the pumpkin that she will miss. The trick or treating is not as important to her. I am planning on buying a pumpkin and carving it the night before Halloween.

I am also a horseshow Mom. We have a big away show this weekend, leaving for it tomorrow. I had to plan this trip around the horseshow schedual.
