Halloween Horror Nights

It looks like Hell Week could be the week of 10/17...stay away if at all possible.

Great! That was the week we were planning on going - DD has the previous Friday and that Monday off from School - maybe we will move it to the week before. What exactly is Hell Week?

For all of those Mom types - I had actually thought about letting DH take DD to HHN and I would venture over to Disney for MNSSHP... we are doing it as a family on another night - but why spend my $$ on something I WILL NOT enjoy like they will?? I would much rather go over to Disney! This can be a Dad and Daughter bonding experience!

That will work out good for us as I was thinking about the week before that. I thought about arriving October 7 & leaving on the 11th. That would give us 4 days to do HHN & Mickey's not so scary.

You sound a lot like me! I doubt that I will enjoy HHN much, but DH,DS, & DD will love it! I want to do MNSSHP. I want to be able to experience HHN once so I can say that I did it. I'm the one who drags everyone else to Disney so I guess I can do this once. Our kids are out of school October 10 & 11. I can sneak them out on the Friday before without too much trouble. We could leave on Thursday the 6th & have Fri, Sat, Sun, & Mon to do both Universal & Disney. We usually go for 8 days every Spring Break so this will be different. We have never gone for Halloween before. We can do our favorite things in the parks in the day time since our time is limited. We usually sty on-site at Disney then move to an on-site Universal hotel. I think we will probable spend more time at Universal this time so we may just drive over to Disney for the day.

I would be very interested in it, as we go for a week at the begining
of Oct. Though they have had pretty deep discounts for ap holders the
first 3 weeks in the past. Plus the hotel rates are alot lower.

Actually I'm just the opposite. :rotfl:

If DH were to go, he would run the opposite way when it comes to HHN. I love everything about this type of thing.

We have always made our Disney & Universal reservations through AAA. Are the discounts with the AP at Universal going to save us enough to warrant the extra cost if we only go for 2-3 days? Would 2 days be enough for HHN? I would like to do MNSSHP too. I guess we would stay at a Universal hotel & drive to Disney.

MNSSHP doesn't offer a lot of discounts except for passholders and the discount isn't that great.

If you stayed at Universal, you could get the AP discount on the hotel rooms. I'm not sure if those are out yet for October.

The biggest savings with the AP is for HHN and park food and merchandise. HHN tickets are pretty expensive w/o either the AP or FL resident discounts. Last year general admission tickets were $74.99 plus tax per ticket. BUT...the AP rate was as low as $34.99 per ticket based on when you go. If you are allowed to purchase more than one Frequent Fear Pass per AP (I'm not sure if there is a limit or not) you could save a lot of money just on the HHN tickets. Frequent Fear Passes run around $60.00 and are good for multiple off peak nights. So...if you're going to HHN w/o any discount for two nights, you're looking at $150.00 plus tax per person for both nights. But you could do the FFP and spend only $60.00 plus tax for BOTH nights per person...again depending on when you go. I'm not sure how many are in your party but it may be worth it to purchase an AP and you only need one to take advantage of discounts.

Just something to think about.

It's Universal, so it's always subject to change, but as long as I can remember, APs have been able to purchase up to 6 Frequent Fear Passes. Also, this past year, there were FFPs for around $80 that included Friday nights.

Don't forget to factor in $15/day parking, and 10% off merch and food (including CityWalk). But too much math for me now, I'm out.

Is this a whole week (October 17-21)?

I thought it was a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (but also avoid the Thursday night before).

My vacation start October 15-22.

I planned to go to WDW the 15-19 and switch to Universal on the 19th. I am planning HHN the 19th and 20th.

Should I switch and go to Universal 1st or pick a whole new week?

What is everyone's opinion on the week of October 22-29th?

Thanks!

That's why I quit when I did. ;)

Until the official dates are announced it's only a guess but Hell Week is usually the middle of October but it will depend on the school schedules. When the dates are announced, any week that has a Wednesday night event is a good sign it's Hell Week...last year we had two weeks. I went both Sunday nights those weeks and let me just tell you...thank heaven for Express!

I know that everyone says to stay away from HHN on Saturday nights. I looked at the schedule from 2010 & noticed that MNNSHP wasn't held on Sat. Am I correct that we probably won't be doing a party on a Sat? We are planning on a long week-end, probably arriving Oct 6 & leaving on Oct 11. I am trying to plan out what type of passes that we will need.

If you can, switch to a different week after the official hours are released this summer. If you see the schedule showing a Wednesday night during your week, it's going to be mobbed. They have the extra night to handle some of the crowds.

The problem with Saturdays at HHN is there is no pass you can buy that's good for Saturday nights. You wouldn't be able to get any multiple entry tickets...just regular tickets for that night which are expensive. And don't even ask about the price of the Express for Saturday nights!

the preferred annual pass is probably the best one since you are not a local.

quite a few of the locals go with the more expensive annual pass, the premiere as they can get more use out of the perks by going frequently.

anyone can buy the ap's.

i know a few canadians that have them.

i'm sure there are others across the pond that are presently ap holders.

you can buy the ap voucher on line at the uo website.

you take the voucher to the park to activate it into a pass.

that's all you do........

the beginning date of the one year time period begins when you activate the pass, not when you buy it.

if you don't find the info about the passes on the UO website, send me a pm and i'll find the link for you.

Do AP holders get to buy more than one regular (not FFP) HHN ticket? It looks as though they are half-price for AP holders vs non-AP holders. Just wondering......?
