Halloween Horror Nights?!?

I am VERY interested in going to this event this year. We are AP holders, and I am trying to decide the best way to do this. We currently have a Disney trip planned for Sept 22-30. I noticed opening weekend of HHN is that weekend, and also that tickets for that weekend are cheaper than others...does that mean it is usually less crowded?? Would it be feasible for us to expect that we could get everything done in one evening? I'm not even sure I understand what they have....houses and rides?? Would we need the Express Pass?? Would we be better off trying to work in a visit during our Disney trip, or scheduling another trip another weekend? What are yalls thoughts, recommendations? Thanks!

OK since you've got a day in your trip to make it out to HHN do it!! It's the best Halloween event anywhere.Tickets for the first 2 nights for AP holders are like $26,that's a great deal.Since it's the first weekend it won't be as crowded as later on in October,but believe me it'll be crowded,it's a very popular event.They usually have like 7 haunted houses with different themes,several scare zones,depending on what park they have the event they sometimes have a Festival of the Dead parade and shows like the annual Bill and Ted's show that spoofs current events.Most of the major rides will be open but If you want to do all the houses and shows don't go on rides if you're only going to be there one night.What I usually do is go to the park during the day and at about 3-4 pm you'll see they have an area for people with HHN tickets to stay in the park and if the event starts at 7pm they'll let you out of the section at 6:15 -6:30 before the mass of people just coming for HHN gets into the park.This lets you do 2-4 houses before the lines really start getting bad around 8pm.Here's a link to HHN,if you click in the behind the screams area you can see some pictures and videos of past Horror Nights going back to 1991!!

If you're going to be here opening weekend, make sure you don't miss HHN. I went opening weekend the past two years and it's great.

Opening weekend is very iffy. We went two years ago, and it wasnt so bad....but there were a lot of things that werent open either. My recommendation would be to go opening weekend and do Stay and Scream. Go to Universal during the day, say by 3:30. And ride a few rides. Then about 5 they will corral you into a waiting area, and you will wait to be released. They will release you before the main gates open, and you will be able to go ino a few houses without crowds.
Express, sadly, is almost a must.....but sometimes not worth it. The express lines sometimes gets as busy a the regular lines.
The absolute way to go is to do an RIP tour. You get through the line, you see some of the behind the scenes stuff, and you are pretty much guaranteed to see the every show.
But again, opening weekend they are working bugs out, and they can change things during the middle of the month and add things. So really go opening weekend, and go again in the middle of the month.

hmm...RIP tour?? what is that, and how do i get more info on it? the only problem with the stay and scream, even tho i say "we" are AP holders, in actuality only my dgf is. we got it for the hotel discounts on our last trip, so for stay and scream i would need to factor in the cost of admission for myself...:-\
