Halloween Horror Nights Decorations

We are heading to Universal the last week of September and we love, Love, LOVE Halloween, but I think my 8 year old is still too young to do Halloween Horror Nights with the chainsaws chasing her and stuff. (Although as I type this she is killing zombies on Call of Duty and saying that being chased by a chainsaw sounds like fun. ) So what do I know?

Anyway, my question is, do they leave the Halloween decoration stuff up at Universal Studios on the days that the party isn't held? Is the park still "Halloween-ish"?

Hi!

You won´t see jack o lanterns on street lamps or buildings or that sort of things yo see at Disney. You will probably catch those on some of the overhead trees where they are put up every year for the event.

Zombies.. Call of Duty... done that, but this is way more intense... it´s real!

During the day most props are covered up and will not give you that Halloween environment throughout the park.

you'll see the 'jack lanterns' openly at central park section at the studios.
many will be hanging from the trees.

nothing frightening at all.

most of everything else will be completely covered up.

As the others have stated...only large decorations are viewable during the day. Here are some pictures from years past of the props used and what they look like during the day. The larger props are simply too big to move so they are left in place.

Do people bring their kids? The ticket price is kind of a turn off too, $82 is a lot of money for a party ticket.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. I am trying to convince her it's too intense for her but she seems really disappointed. Youtube videos are going to have to do for now.

Know that $82 is the price at the gate without prior admission to the park that day. On non-peak nights you can add a HHN ticket to your daily park pass for as low as $36 per person.

Can this be done with pre-purchased tickets or only if you are buying tickets on the day? And would this only be for US tickets or for IOA tickets also?

E.g. I have already bought our tickets for IOA, just wondering if we can add HHN when we arrive or if we would just by the separate $82 tickets?

if you bought your tickets from universal, the answer is yes.
call the online store and they can look up the sale to verify you have the day tickets.
you can then purchase the S & S tickets.


rereading your question:

you need to have the studios park ticket for the studios in order to enter early for the stay and scream area.

you can buy the the hhn tix in advance with the discount, but you would have to stand in line outside the gate until it opens at 6:30.

you need the studios ticket in order to enter the park.

if you change your day ioa ticket to a hopper, then you can enter the studios prior to closing and go to the holding area prior to hhn opening.

I would never bring an 8 yr old.My daughter is that age and loves the zombies on Call of Duty too, but I would never bring her to HHN.My SIL is a 37yr old woman and HHN scared the living daylights out of her and my 15 yr old niece, and they eat,breathe and sleep gory movies and halloween haunted attractions.

I agree. I pulled up some youtube videos of past HHN and let her see them last night and she finally agreed that it would be too much for her, LOL. We'll wait a few years on that one. It's a great excuse to keep going back at this time of year.

Oh, good, and a good excuse to keep coming back as well! Haha, last year around 9 o'clock I saw a family with two strollers and a child who was about nine, thankfully the strollers were covered by blankets but the nine year old looked terrified!

HHN is NOT a "party." It is an experience in terror. The scareactors in the haunted houses/streets have one goal: to make you scream. They do not care who they scare. The whole atmosphere turns dark/twisted/scary.

There are no child tickets sold for a reason: it's a PG-13 event. Besides the violence/gore there is plenty of drunkenness (alcohol sales are everywhere and are very high), cursing (in the Bill & Ted show, as well as from people getting scared), and sexual innuendo (Bill & Ted show, as well as some revealing costumes).

People do bring children, sometimes very young (some bring stroller-bounc children ). This is up to the parent's discretion and they are 100% responsible for what happens to their child. If their/your child can handle it, great! Have fun! If not, then why bring them? They'll hate it and there are no refunds for HHN.
