I’m planning a trip to Orlando in Late August/Early September 2021 and I’m wondering if HHNs will start by the time I go. Any chance they’ll start on Labor Day weekend (especially since they had to cancel it this year)? Is it worth going for just the rides? How long are ride wait times? Can you park hop if you only have a party ticket (and not a regular ticket)? TIA

I doubt hhn will open in August next year.

check the back history for hhn for their opening dates pattern
I’ve been attending hhn for 27 years and have experienced opening date changes
Just can’t visualize an August opening.

The hhn ticket allows a person to enter at specific times to the studios
This ticket does not work for IOA park hopping.
You would need a park ticket to go to IOA on a hhn night.

A majority of people have the priorities for doing the houses and scare zones and live shows at hhn

I do some rides as fillers of time.
But I do the parks in the daytime before hhn opens on the evening.

Over the years, UO has allowed different tickets.
Popular ones are for, a person can enter the park two hours early for rides

New choices of tickets happen per hhn season
No idea how hhn 2021 will be at this point.

Check the last year calendar and it could very well look as the same pattern.

(think this year’s calendar is still viewable)

Both 2019 and 2020 calendars showed it starting the Thurs or Friday after Labor Day. I’ll attach my screenshots from both years below. Not sure what they’ll do next year but I’ve never seen it start Labor Day weekend.

I have gone the last 27 years to hhn and don’t recall Labor Day period in the line up for it.

but I have never looked if LaborDay was involved as I wait until after the first 3 weeks of hhn before I attend it.

:thanks:

for pulling up last years thread!

Of course I had to look thru the links ...
sweet memories!

How far out can I book my hotel? I know when I want to go in October 2021.
I already booked the Hard Rock for the last week of the event. You can book now, and should, especially if you plan on Hard Rock. Availability for cheaper rooms go fast there due to the proximity. There is a one night deposit that is fully refundable up to 5 days before iirc.

So for those of you who are HHN fans, is it appropriate for a 15 (sorry, I need to stop for a second and look at that. How is she going to be 15 next October?!) year old?

We just renewed our AP's and between the C-19 extension and the extra three month offer we will be valid through early December. The kids typically have an October break/long weekend and DH and I were talking about making a second trip next year (plans are firm for a June 21 trip).

She would have adult supervision, but I'd stay at the hotel with the 12 year old who would NOT appreciate the scare zones. She's a typical "indestructible" teen however, and she might enjoy the experience. I'm thinking earlier in the evening, as my memory says the later you go the raunchier it gets. is this wrong?

ETA: if you're not interested in HHN, is it less crowded during the day as more folks come for the evening activities? are any of the extra food options available during the day? you all know I'm just here for the food lol.

Honestly, it all depends on your kid! I've seen much younger kids at HHN so if your daughter is into horror, then she'll be totally fine at 15!
With regards to crowds, its usually slow around that time of year anyway so I don't recall seeing the Studios side busy during the day. The park does close early though (I think 5pm) on HHN nights so if you want to do that park during the day, its better to go early.
And no - usually the HHN specialty foods are not available during the day as they only open the booths at night. You might be able to get a speciality cupcake or something similar in the stores, but none of the main HHN snacks or drinks.

the more I think about it, the more it sounds really doable for us. we are so not commando people at the parks, often we were back in the hotel by 2 or 3 if not earlier. Less crowded parks, and if no one wants to go in the evening we still get to enjoy everything. Definitely a conversation to start having as it sounds like I need to book the hotel ASAP.

They are open for booking now. I didn’t expect that, but someone on this thread gave me a heads up. Rates are decent now, before other people start planning. My youngest daughter’s first HHN was at 15, she was a little scared but enjoyed it. We are planning multiple HHN nights this trip (:

I booked a trip for September 2021 about 2 weeks ago and the rates for Cabana Bay (with park tickets) was $300 cheapher than they were this year! Definitely a good idea to book now!

Cabana Bay is our home resort. While the others have the shiny express pass give me a lazy river and easy access to volcano bay anyday!
