In the depths of this winter depression (and because i love reading other peoples trip reports SO much )i have decided to share our wonderfull holiday last October with you all. Its realy nice to look back and take a day at a time to relive those memories and hopefully some of our experiences and tips will help you out too!
After advice on these boards the only way to get over the blues was to book another trip and we are now returning in May 2006.

Anyway to the details... My family consists of myself Rachael 32 full time sister in an emergency unit and mother to gorgeous DS2 and DD4 as well as wife to DH who works as a prison officer.
This was our first trip to Orlando and when the day arrived we were so excited. I guess like many of you we had been counting down the days literally on a calendar and it seemed a little unreal that the day had finally come.
There seems to be a trait amongst nurses to suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder and i am no exception. I love everything neat and tidy and organised. Our suitcases were all packed and ready to go. Passporter and PS reservations from months of meticulous planning all set for the off. These boards were such a find and i gained so many tips which would enhance our trip
We live in East Anglia so after spending the morning of October 1st finishing off the last bits around the house and dropping the very unhappy casper cat at the cattery we set off down the A12 to London.
Now our last attempt at a Eurotunnell trip to DLP had resulted in a blown up cambelt in Kent and a recovery home with no holiday sob sob. Not to mention a massive garage bill. In my wisdom i had changed our breakdown cover and not realised we did not have recovery so DH was none too impressed at the five hundred quid tow home. Still you live and learn!!!
I was therefore very relieved when we arrived at the Gatwick Hilton as i thought we were home and dry......how wrong i was but more of that on day two!!!
Because it was out of season we were able to park our car just across from the hotel where we would be leaving it whilst on holiday.I know some people have had to drive and leave theirs near the other terminal so this was a real treat as it meant in the morning we could pop back and leave our overnight things.
The Hilton was lovely and so convenient for the terminal building as you can just walk through in minutes. We had booked a family suite through holiday extras and it was huge with a lovely bathroom. We had read that Hilton prices were extortionate so decided to go over to the terminal and had dinner at Frankie and Bennys which was lovely if a little noisy.I had some particularly delicious meatballs and pasta. By now the sight of the planes and the buzz of the terminal had realy started to give me that butterflies excited feeling.
After dinner we walked back to the hotel and bathed and bedded the kids. They suprised me by going to sleep straight away so whilst DH paid a ridiculous amount of money to watch a movie i took the oportunty to take a long soak, slap on some fake tan and dream of the next two weeks to come. :Pinkbounc

Oooh goody, another new set of reports to look forward to :)

I don't like the sound of your Gatwick "... how wrong I was...' - hope it's not too drastic!

Is there any better way to start a holiday than a meal at Frankie & Benny's at Gatwick ???

Great start to your trip report
