We are on the Halloween Magic this year. As it is an Eastern cruise and formal night is usually on the Sunday, this will fall on Halloween. Does anyone know whether formal night will stay the same or whether it may be changed (maybe swapped with semi-formal) to avoid Halloween, when people may want to wear costumes.

I have a feeling we may have had a similar issue in 2002 when we cruised but old age has caught up with me and I can't recall what happened.

My familiy went on the Magic Western cruise for Halloween 2002 and the formal night was on the 31st.

They didnt change the Formal night, however loads of people decided to dress up in costume rather than formal clothes.

I had used the ships Suit hire service but in the end was one of the few wearing it.

Was I on the same one as you?

Hi Andrew, yes we must have been on the same cruise. My memory just wasn't telling me what thye did about formal night. It looks like my DD16 may be wearing costume for appetiser, formal gown for main course and half and half for dessert. LOL.

Maybe we will be on the same cruise next summer, depending on where the Magic goes and when.

Its was a very good trip on that Western cruise the only problem I remmber was that the Halloween parades were very crowded, I took the kids out of the bedlem, and into the swimming costumes and to the pool saying I would buy them sweets later.

If DCL annouce summer 2005 by early May I am likly to book a trip with them again.

However the UK agents, are already bringing out their brouchures this month, and 'exclude' DCL as they havent confirmed trips, in fact they 'exclude the 'wonder' as well after April, due to the confusion although the Wonder is annouced and the magic is available after September.

I think they do not understand the cost coming from the UK and if we are going a 7 day trip is not cost effective, and then taking out Easter and Christmas our only option is July and August.

I took the kids out of school for part of October last time, but the school didnt like it, even though it ended up as 4 days only.
