Halloween Fantasy On The High Seas - Eastern October 24th 2015

I'm glad that you'll be getting to get back to Castaway Cay this next time then. We love it!:beach:

You are lucky DCL travelers! MY BF loves traveling but Disney is not really his thing. He'd rather be hiking, camping anything outdoors so he's at least happy when we go to Castaway Cay:goodvibes

My son is a computer engineer. He loves it. He would rather have been building though but discovered too late that he should have become an electrical engineer to do that. He's always building or tweaking computers and has been since he was a young teen. I'm glad to have a child who actually is doing something he loves doing. So many of us are not. That includes me. Oh, well.
It's great to be able to guide our children anyhow to something that suits them. How about your's? You said you have children in college?

Rose

Computer engineer...He is in the right spot! Great job opportunities in this area.

My younger daughter is a sophomore film directing student at Syracuse University and my older daughter just graduated from college in May. She is living in Haiti for a year running the guest house at an orphanage! It's not a job I would have chosen but I give her a lot of credit!

Wow! I'm about 1/2 hour away from Syracuse! I actually grew up in the city.
Great career choice, how interesting:goodvibes

Congratulations to your oldest! What an experience for her. Awesome:thumbsup2 My cousin's ex-husband was born in Haiti and his whole family, before they moved to Miami. So Regina's daughter is 1/2 Haitian. Very beautiful.
When I first met my cousin's ex-husband, one of the first things I asked him about was voodoo and zombies:rotfl2: He giggled:goodvibes, that's something only the really poor people believe in, or so he told me.
I was kind of bummed out. I wanted to hear all about that stuff, interesting.
Your daughter must have lots of interesting stories to tell.

Glad to have you cruising with us, we'll have fun chatting:yay:

Checking In.. I am David Bailey on FaceBook and my wife is Jennifer but we both use this account here.

Hi Dave and Jennifer:wave2: Welcome to here:goodvibes

My favorite place when I'm doing anything Disneyish::MickeyMo

There's a few of us that prefer to chat on here rather than there (place which can't be named;) ) . Although I'm on that other place for lots of other things daily.

Wow, 17 DCL's under your belt????!!!! I'm jealous. Concierge too?
Lucky ducks:thumbsup2 And Hawaii! I almost hate you already!:rotfl:

If both you and Jennifer use this name, then when you're writing, maybe you could sign with a D or a J so we know which one of you is on here.

It looks like you've already fixed your signature.

Any kiddos going along with you guys?
Mine is grown and gone and so is Bob's. Just us two in our room:hug::love:

I'm adding you to our list on here:goodvibes

Oh, sorry, I called you Dave, do you go by Dave or David?

That reminds me of the famous Dave and Jennifer from Passporter:thumbsup2

We booked this while onboard the Southern Caribbean Magic a few weeks ago. We really wanted to be onboard around Halloween and also to finally get onboard the Fantasy. This will be our 15th cruise and after this we'll have been on all 4 ships! I'm Lori and I'll be traveling with my DH (Ralph). We are from the Boston area. We usually travel with our children but they will be away at college during this cruise.

Glad to meet everyone and also would like to join the FE group when it starts up.

WELCOME!!!! :yay:

Underdog here and i'll be joined by my lovely bride of 40 years (at cruise time) Robin aka Tart Annihilator.

I see you guys are going to Aulani in 2 months! WOW! That's on our bucket list for sure but not sure if we'll ever make it. Robin will be retiring around this time next year then we'll be snowbirding in the winter!
If all goes as planned this will be our last Ohio winter!!!

Party at your new house after the cruise??!!

Party at your new house after the cruise??!!

HECK YEAH!!!:cool1:

We've been talking about how nice it will be to get back from the cruise, then just stay in Florida for 5 more months!! Although we may fly home for a week around xmas time. (not sure yet)

Just got our contract from the TA and noticed we're on Main dining this time around. Our previous 2 cruises (Alaska & WBPC) we were on late dining on the Wonder.

I've heard that the MDRs on the Fantasy can be rather loud and am wondering if the larger percentage of children at the first seating will be a bit too much for us. While Disney will probably seat us (my husband and I) with similar couples; there's no telling who might be at the next table ... and my husband has limited patience with boisterous children! I've also heard that the main dining can be rather rushed -- since they need to be able to clear and reset for the second seating.

On the other hand, I'm kind of looking forward to dining and then seeing the show & enjoying the evening entertainment - instead of eating so late that I'm not up for much else the rest of the night. Plus, I usually end up eating something around 5-6p AND a full dinner - my waistline doesn't need that! Depending on our tablemates (yes, I've been reading THAT thread!) - we may want to have a more briskly timed meal. If we happen to enjoy their company after all, we can always retire to one of the adult clubs!

So - any thoughts on whether to stick with main dining or switch?

Hot topic around our house. I personally despise the late dining but somehow found myself dining late on our last few cruises.:confused3
One cruise Robin wanted to do late dining so we wouldn't miss the sunsets, only to not even see a sunset the entire week.
Robin also prefers the late dining because that first day, practically right after sail away she'd have to start getting ready if we dined early.

So I've been a team player lately and we've chosen to dine late. Sometimes I think I'd just rather do Cabanas for dinner every night.

So I guess I didn't really answer your question as we are also on the fence about our rotation.:rolleyes1

:lmao: At least it's not just me! I haven't really talked it over too much with Scott yet - since we're still a year out, he's not quite in the "cruise planning" groove yet. As long as we get to Palo for a brunch, he'll be happy, food-wise.

That reminds me we probably should call DCL and asked to switch our dining to early. Its my understanding its always easier to switch to late dining at a later date than it is to try to get it switched the other way as the cruise gets closer.:thumbsup2

So unless im reading wrong, we have "only" 1 year from today till cruise time!!
:sail::beach:

We've always done late dining just to avoid what we figured would be too crowded during the early dining because of children. Also, because of trying to get ready for dinner too early. But if I hear more pros and cons I might be swayed to try early for a change. But then it depends on when my tablemates want to dine at. I want to sit with, so I'll choose whatever they decide.

Coming out of the closet - Jay and I have been booked on this sailing since May and we're in concierge for my birthday this time! :cool1:

Anyhoo ... this will be cruise number 9 for us and our third time on the Fantasy. Consider yourselves warned ... there are some in the community who consider us hurricane jinxes. :lmao:

For those who don't know us I'm Brenda (oybolshoi) and will be celebrating my birthday one week late with this cruise; my husband is Jason (guy incognito). You can usually find us in the spa, satellite falls, or a bar ... not necessarily in that order. ;)

Happy planning!
