Ok, we went to Disneyland and San Diego from October 3rd - 7th and it has taken me this long to start this report. I promise lots of pictures, but you must be patient.
Our trip started at 5:00 am when my husband dropped me, DS3 and DD 8 months at the airport. He would fly in the next day. My DD8 stayed at home since it was a short trip and I did not want her to miss three days of school. Grandma spoiled her while we were gone.
Now you need to picture me walking through the airport with a double stroller with two kids in it, a booster seat hung over the push bar of the stroller, a car seat strapped over one arm, a small duffle bag, a small backpack and a large backpack on the other arm. Then I had to unload all of this and take shoes off of everyone to get through security. We made it in less than 5 minutes!
The flights were smooth. The little one slept the first leg and the older one on the second leg. Then at 9:47 am we arrive at SAN (Orange County).
The next step was to get the rental car. We rented a mid-sized car from Thrifty. We find their counter in the airport and we are told to go down the elevator, through the garage and then into their rental office. I arrive in the rental office and I am rudely told that this office in only for VIPs and that the main office is upstairs in the airport where I started my journey. I am also told that I can wait there, but if anyone comes in that is a VIP my transaction will be stopped and they will help them first. They did this several times and made a big deal to point out how important the new person was. Finally, I received my car and was told to inspect it in the dark garage for any dings or dents. It was a Subaru Legacy, which is not midsized, but the kids barely fit as did the stroller.
Next, we head off for the Lemon Tree Hotel. Originally the plan was to stay with my sister in LA for one night before my husband's conference started in San Diego, but she booked us a hotel instead since she said her apartment was too small for all of us. This hotel is amazing! The day after she made the reservation they called to ask when my flight would be coming in and told me to call them when I landed and they would have my room ready even though check-in was at 2 pm.
I followed the directions on my MapQuest and got to the right street numbers, but could not find the hotel. It is a small boutique hotel that also has suites. They directed me to the hotel and let me know that the street numbers are not in order. I found the hotel and our room was ready. It was only 11 am. The room had a welcome packet in it that contained a men's and a women's disposable razor, shave gel, tooth paste, shampoo and conditioner, a power bar and several other items. It was all name brand items. The room was nicely decorated and it had a table with chairs and a fridge. We had a patio door that opened up to a view of the gated pool. We placed our stuff in the room and went back to the front desk to ask for directions for our next journey.
