Halloween Decor on Nov 2nd?

We are Southern California Select AP holders and live in the central valley. The kids have a teacher inservice day on Monday Nov 2nd and we were thinking about making a trip for the day but wanted to know if there will still be Halloween Decorations up? Everything I've seen states that they start taking it down The night before.

I assume there will still be some decorations up, but it sounds like they start taking it down once the Park Closes on Sunday.

There are quite a bit of Halloween decorations up; HalloweenTime goes through November 1, so on the 2nd, there will still be a lot of the décor up....I don't think they could possibly take it all down overnight.

I also don't think everything will vanish overnight, but some things will probably start to be taken down fairly quickly because they do have to transition the parks to the Holiday decor (the official start date of the Holiday Season is November 13th). Space Mountain is showing as being closed on November 2 (removal of SMGG overlay), but it's not clear when it'll re-open (there are rumors that it might be closed for longer than a single day this time). HMH will still be up and running.

Maybe we will take them. We'd like them to see the Halloween and Christmas decorations this year as we probably won't renew our AP's.

There really isn't that much Halloween stuff up this year, it won't be that hard to take down. HMH will still be running, of course.

I don't know that this is entirely correct. I'll know for sure when I get to Disneyland, but aside from the Big Thunder Carnival area and some splicing of the Halloween and 60th decor, it seems like a fair amount of the usual decor is up. The photos from DisneyGeek, Mouseplanet, and Dateline Disney indicated that the areas of the Ranch that are open to the guests (e.g., the Cabin) are decorated, as is the Halloween Tree in Fontierland, and the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. The entrance decor (the giant Mickey and friends pumpkins) and displays along the tram route are also back. There are pumpkins on Main Street. So while I do think some things are missing, a surprising amount has returned this year.

We were there last year on that date, and it was still there. I think some might have disappeared from the 1st to the 2nd, but not a lot!

Wow, so different from WDW. When we went in 2012, one day it was all up everywhere and the next day, November 2nd, it was ALL gone and all the Christmas stuff was up.

I've never paid attention to how quickly the ranch decor comes down. They could easily close that for a day or part of a day and switch that out. Though with Santa moving to Critter Country this year they may just leave the ranch up until it closes.

I felt like there was about 90% of the usual décor up when I was there last week....I still think there will be quite a bit up on the 2nd...

This may be because Día de los Muertos is celebrated here, and that goes from Nov 1-2.

They'll certainly take the pumpkins at the entrance (both in Town Square and over the Ticket Gates) down and the bunting will have to transition either back to the 60th or something for the holidays, but that isn't the only decor that they added for Halloween. I think things will start to come down quickly because they have to get the parks ready for the holidays, but I also don't expect everything they added for Halloween to vanish overnight. In terms of Big Thunder Ranch, I think they'll take the Halloween-themed decor out of the Guest available-areas and put in the Holiday decor before Nov 13th.

I also think this is partial because MK has the MVMCP that usually start about a week after Halloween. So they need to transition MK into the holiday decor fairly quickly so they can start the parties. The rest of WDW gets their decor added over time.

The are supposedly filming the Christmas parade on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th, so I imagine they will be transitioning pretty quickly to be ready for that. I know in the past when I was there for the taping weekend everything was up for Christmas except the giant tree.

It really does almost all come down overnight. We went Nov. 1-5 last year. Everything was still up on Nov. 1st, which was a Saturday last year. A LOT of stuff came down Saturday night (the pumpkins at the front entrance and lots of vignettes in the parks). By Monday morning, EVERYTHING was gone! It was so strange to see it transform like that! I can't imagine how many hundreds of people they have working the overnight hours to complete these holiday transformations!

Space Mountain will be closed that Monday to take down the Halloween overlay if that's important to your kids. It was only down for that day. Even if you do miss the Halloween decorations, it is such a great time of year to go! The weather is beautiful, and the crowds are manageable. Some of the Christmas decorations will be going up also.

Agree that a lot of Halloween decorations will come down to make way for the Christmas Parade taping the following weekend.

Yes, I am in agreement that the Halloween décor will come down pretty swiftly this year. I think that in some years -- when there is a bigger gap of time in between when Halloween Time ends and the Holidays begin, or a bigger gap of time between when Halloween Time ends and the ABC taping of the parade happens -- some of the Halloween décor may stay up a tiny bit longer. But the season is ending after 11/1, and the Holidays officially begin on 11/13. The Holiday season décor is much, much more involved and detailed than the Halloween décor, so it will begin going up even before 10/31. It's a Small World Holiday is likely soft opening on Friday, November 6th, and that weekend will also be when ABC tapes/films, but some segments are actually shot even before that weekend. The parks have to look somewhat Christmasy for whatever segments are shot during that week after Halloween Time ends.

Halloween is supposed to run through the first so my guess is that it will be open on the first.

November 1st is the last official day of Halloween Time this year (usually the last official day is 10/31), so that means that Ghost Galaxy -- and everything else Halloween-ish except for Mickey's Halloween Party -- will be open and up through 11/1. Haunted Mansion Holiday, of course, will be open for the rest of the year and into early January.
