Halloween Cruisin' on Disney Wonder to Cabo San Lucas W/Mickey Jack & Minnie Sally, Oct. 11-16, 2015

Oh those D&B bags are sooooo nice. I was eyeing one our entire cruise, but sadly it didn't make it home with me. Perhaps next year...... ;-)

Clayton is the best! "Who's on vacation?!!!!":dogdance::dogdance::dogdance::dogdance::dogdance:

I didn't like the other D & B bag designs. I told myself I wouldn't buy one this sailing, but who am I kidding??? I think DH knew I would cuz when I told him I was going to get it, he didn't act surprised!! Thank goodness! :hippie::p

That is soooooo awesome that you are going back on Wonder for an Alaskan cruise to celebrate your 40th!!! I'm hoping to do that one day; it's just too expensive for us now. I wonder if Carlton...I mean, Clayton will be there still! :dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:

Hi, Patti! You and I have GREAT tastes in bags! :goodvibes:rotfl2::blush::hug:

Unfortunately, I have to admit that we didn't spend time talking to any other officers that occasion. The last night I made DH and DD go to the officer pin trading. He said it was very cool but crowded so I don't think he was able to chat much w/them. :crowded:

That's so cool that you and John were able to chat with him. Do you remember what kind of officer he is?

I believe he said he was the Accounting/Financial officer (DS has it on the booklet that he signed for him so I'll check when I get home). He said he usually doesn't get to mingle with the guests as much because his job keeps him at his desk. We were glad he found some time to chat with us because we love hearing about how things work around the ship :)

Ok...not at home but i was showing DH my posts so far. I'm frustrated cuz some of the photos that I posted have been switched around and now don't make sense!!! Will look at them in the computer.:badpc:>:(

At home and just had time to check. All the pictures are the way it should be. Weird!!!! Don't know why the pictures were wrong before. Anyone have a guess? :magnify::confused3:confused::scratchin

Sounds like you had a great day once you got on board the ship. It's funny how different your day was compared to mine even though we did a lot to the same things. How awesome that your DH won the DVC on board credit! That can certainly go a long way!

Funny you go to Mickey's Mates first, we always hit Treasure Ketch firat!

That's why I love reading trip reports...everybody has a different experience. I was so beyond excited and shocked when he won that OBC!!!

I usually go to Mickeys Mates 1st cuz the kids are with us. This way they can "think" I'm letting them shop. Then I can take my time at Treasure Ketch! Luckily they wanted to go to the club so I could concentrate with my shopping!!! I can't wait to read about whatever shopping you did!!! :chat:popcorn::::yes::

I was just writing about that! Putting in the pictures of the shirts and stuff. I write my TRs in advance in MS Word and then post when I have enough for a full update.

I usually type up in MS word everyday as the vacation goes along. Then later I'll attach the photos. HOWEVER...this 5 day flew by so quickly and by the end of each day I was so exhausted!!! I'm going by memory and using my pictures as guidance and as a timeline!!! :P:rolleyes1:rotfl2::scratchin:laughing:

I actually made notes in Fast Notepad on my tablet this trip. It was the first one I didn't bring the computer and I really started to feel if I didn't take notes I would forget lots of things. I guess now I'm really getting old.

No, not old...just an experienced cruiser!!! :flower1::sail:8-);)

Day Two: Monday, October 12, 2015 (Ensenada Day)

Before I get started, I just need to vent that I had to delete about 10-15 pictures!!! I forgot about the 35 picture max per post! Aaaarrrggghhh!!! :mic::offtopic:

On our 1st Disney Wonder sailing, we were further aft in an inside stateroom. I remember waking up whenever we entered port, feeling the loud vibrations, the hangers swaying and rocking throughout the night, etc. This time we were in an outside stateroom portside about 10 staterooms further forward, actually about a cabin away from the aft elevators. I woke up this morning to a gentle whirring from the engines. Did I ever mention that I absolutely LOVE the map channel on the TV?!?! I would turn on the TV upon waking up and upon returning to the room. Then I’d leave it on all night long as a nightlight from the TV’s glow but also because I really love that channel.:love::love:

We were entering port and I saw a breakwater not that far away. We passed a buoy and realized there was a sea lion on it! So cute!

Off topic: so before the cruise, DH and I had been on a special diet where you supplement breakfast and lunch with these meal shakes. Over 6 weeks I lost 13 pounds and DH lost 14 pounds over 5 weeks. He was very realistic and told me not to pack any shakes for the cruise for him. I measured portions for myself for my daily breakfast. This morning I had my shake. Tomorrow I would have my last shake for our vacation!!! Why bother?!?!

I got dressed and washed up. I went to decks 9 &10 around 6:45 and took some pictures.

There were some people on deck, but not many were present. I took some photos of Goofy’s Galley.

I went to Beach Blanket Buffet (BBB) and wanted to bring food and drinks back to the family. I quickly realized this would take two trips. I got the food, went back to the cabin, went up for drinks and back to the cabin. That was HARD and I told myself I would NOT do that again!

When looking out our cabin window, the gangway on deck 1 is just below us and to the left of us. It was interesting seeing the crew.

This tanker truck pulled up and I told DS, “Look, it’s a gas truck!” The rest of the family rushed over. DH said, “That’s not a gas truck!” What do you mean? Oooooohhhh…that must be a “human waste” truck. “Yuck!” the kids exclaimed until I explained how important it was to get rid of it. Later in the afternoon, the truck would still be there. That process must take quite a while!

DD had to choose between her Anna Coronation gown and her Elsa gown. She decided on the coronation gown. After everyone got ready, we headed to Animator’s Palate for the Frozen Meet and Greet scheduled for 8:30. I stopped buying more Frozen clothes for the kids quite a while ago. Instead, I had DS wear a shirt that exemplified how our family felt… “I need a vacation”. LOL!!! :rotfl2::rotfl: Despite having our tickets, we still waited in line about 10-15 minutes before it was our turn.

We had time before our 9:30 Princess Meet and Greet in the Atrium Lobby so we took pictures of the evolving Pumpkin Tree.

We loved these artificial Mickey and Minnie Jack-o-Lanterns at the counters of the Port Adventures Desk.

We still had time so I took the kids to the hallways before the shops. I love these windows!

We still had MORE time so we ventured out on deck 4 to look at the port. We saw a group of sea lions.

We headed to the line for our 9:30 appointment. When we approached the CM, he looked at my ticket and said, “Oh, your appointment is for 9:00, but you can still come in.” What?!?!? I thought my appointment was for 9:30! But, there it was as plain as can be…the ticket said 9:00!!! Oh, well. We got Belle, Ariel (my FAVORITE princess), Rapunzel, and Cinderella.

We went back to the cabin and all of us changed into our swimsuits and got sunblock on. We delivered some FE gifts. Then we grabbed all 4 KTTW cards and our driver’s licenses. We headed down one deck to deck one and exited the ship. By now, it was VERY bright, hot, and humid! Ugh!!! :crazy2: We took some photos of the ship.

We didn’t want to go into town so we just went into the small port shopping building. It’s pretty small and has several various vendors that sell jewelry, alcohol, costume jewelry, silver jewelry, dolls, toys, tableware, purses, etc. There was a small convenience store as well. I got an Ensenada magnet to add to our refrigerator collection. DD didn’t find any toys she liked but decided on a flower pendant necklace. DS found a wooden handpainted toy train. I was able to bargain a little.

We were back on the ship within 45 minutes. Poor DD had been begging to go into the pools so now was her time! :love1: Believe it or not…DD was the only one in the family that stepped into the pools! :rotfl2: That’s so unbelievable for our family because we love the pools. DH, DS, and I just wanted to relax and not get wet. I had heard from DISboards about the pretzels so I got a plain salted pretzel from Pinocchio’s Pizzeria. DS was begging for ice cream so I got a vanilla/chocolate swirl for myself and a blueberry/mango swirl for DS. The latter was soooooo yummy. By the time we wanted to get another one later in the cruise, it was sold out. DD was jealous that she never got to try it. It was so hot that our swirls were melting. I was able to teach him to lick, rotate, lick, rotate. Didn’t matter. Used a towel as his napkin. It was melting and dropping on his lap. Again, that towel was put to good use.

DD was all over the place in only one hour…Goofy’ Pool, Mickey’s Pool, Mickey’s Slide, and Goofy’s Pool. Ha, ha, ha! :cool1::cool2::hyper::umbrella:

We had to drag her out of the pool (she is secretly a mermaid at heart!) at 1pm. We had to get ready for the 2pm Nightmare Before Christmas (NBC) Sing and Scream show at the Walt Disney Theater. We had heard that we shouldn’t miss this show, especially because the end has a special surprise. Besides, we couldn’t miss this show, especially since this is from DH’s favorite movie. We were early, got great seats, and I got a popcorn for everyone to share. The show was great! We stood in a LONG line for about 45 minutes for these pictures!

While waiting in this long line, Treasure Ketch was calling to me so I left DH with the kids in line. I got DD a pair of swim goggles (I inadvertently left them in our packed bag for Disneyland in my trunk). By the way, she never wore them because she didn’t like the fit! I also bought a pair of Crislu DCL logo earrings.

I dismissed DH so he could go to Jackpot Bingo. When we were taking our pictures with Jack and Sally, DD mentioned that DH loves NBC, but that he was at jackpot bingo. Jack quickly replied that DH went to “Jackpot”…get it? Jackpot? Nevermind…you had to be there!

We went back to our stateroom to get ready for our Dress Up Night at Animator’s Palate. We managed to get some family photos:

DS was sooooooo tired that he fell asleep before the appetizers!

Minnie looked so beautiful in her white dress, but we were too late (another example of dinner running long w/our servers). The line for Mickey was long but worth it.

Unfortunately, DH took DS back to the cabin to sleep. I took DD to the Walt Disney Theater to see the Golden Mickey’s (our 1st time watching it) and knew it was a must see. It was already pretty crowded but we got aisle seats. I loved watching DD enjoy a musical. Very dear to my heart. DH and I used to watch a lot of musicals before the children so it was sweet to see that she also enjoys them. She was so excited and really paid attention. I never knew she could cheer so loudly! We went to Mickey’s Mates for a little bit.

When we arrived, this was waiting on the bed. Sitting on our bed was our nightly towel animal with a note saying to turn our clocks FORWARD one hour. We got our next navigator and the trick or treat bags for tomorrow...Halloween Day!!!

DS was awake and audibly jealous that we didn’t him to the show. “But, you were asleep.” “I’m jealous.” Apparently, DH showed DS on the show channel the Golden Mickey. I called room service since he didn’t eat dinner. This is one of my favorite cruise pictures of DS: sitting on our bed like a king eating watermelon!!!

While DH walked around the ships, I got the kids ready for bed.

Coming up: Day Three…Halloween Day!

What a great update! You and your DH look great! Congrats on the weight loss.

I wish I would have known there was a small convenience store in the terminal. We didn't get off the ship at all. We never made it to a Sing and Scream, but it sounded like fun. Nice family pictures.

Next time, don't delete pictures from your posts, just break it up into two posts! I'd much rather see more pictures and read a longer post with ore pictures!

So jealous of all the Halloween stuff on your cruise! Our cruise was the last one BEFORE they started Halloween stuff :(

Haha, he looks pleased as punch with himself, in your bed with his watermelon ;-)

I think the Golden Mickeys was my fave of all the shows, it's so well done! Glad they let you see the princesses eventhough you had a time mix up. I mean really what were they going to say, NO? As if! Not going to disappoint the littles who were already dressed up! When we had our Frozen Meet and Greet, we lined up for Olaf first and then a second line up for Elsa & Anna - your line up was for all 3? Kind of disappointed ours was broken up.

I found your TR!!!! Sooo excited to read it. You have a beautiful family. Your kids are too cute! You're making me sooooo excited about our cruise next year. I will probably get sentimental and cry when I see the Fantasy. I am not usually teary but give me anything Disney and I get all blurry-eyed. Can't wait to read more!

Rapunzel was on the ship? How did I miss that!? Your kids are so cute! V and I were at the Sing & Scream too but she needed to get some air afterwards so we bypassed the character pics. I was kind of surprised because she loves Jack & Sally. Now I'm glad she didn't want to...that line would have been too long of a wait for her..LOL...

Thank you! Awwww! :love::lovestruc:love:

You didn't miss much w/the convenience store. However, it was interesting to see another country's snacks/chips. We didn't get anything there.

I was so tempted to break it in half, but I was frustrated and in a hurry to leave the house and pick up the kids. You're right though... next time I'll just break the post into two! :surfweb::surfweb::surfweb:

I'm sorry that you missed out on the Halloween overlay and activities. From what I remember from your TR, you and your family still had an awesome time! :D

I really LOVE that watermelon-eating picture. I forgot to mention in the TR that I LOVE watermelon. However, since he could eat, DS is OBSESSED with watermelon. He ate soooo much of it on the cruise. We ordered it every night for room service (the little dude didn't even share!).:rotfl2:

At the Frozen Meet and Greet, they had all 3 (Anna, Elsa, & Olaf) together.

I love Golden Mickeys because the show has a classic Broadway musical feel to it!

Thanks for the sweet comments about the kids! :flower1:

I felt bad that DH was missing out on meeting Jack and Sally, but he was sooooo excited to get to Bingo. 8-)

Is Rapunzel your favorite character?

Su-Lynn, you're here!!!!!! :welcome::welcome::welcome:

Thank you for your very kind comments! :cutie:

I can't wait to start reading your PTR for your 40th birthday next year! And, on a Star Wars at Sea on the Fantasy?!?! Awesome! I shall live vicariously through you! popcorn:::thumbsup2

I remember when we took the DCL transportation bus from the airport. As soon as we saw Fantasy from the highway, I was beyond ecstatic!
