Come on DCL....We want to Dance.....

 I'm doing the "I just finished installing a new tub, drywalling and painting the bathroom" dance  I guess that doesn't count, though :teeth:
My next dance will be the "cleaning up the construction mess and steam cleaning the carpet" dance.
The next dance after that better be the doc dance!!!!!

I do want to make one little comment about the smoking debate, coming from the tobacco state myself, and being an ex-smoker... The way things are going in todays society, it IS becomming illegal to smoke in public places. We see more and more establishments banning smoking. If you choose to smoke, be respectful of those who don't. Thank you! :teeth:

Ok it seems that everyone has an opinion on the smoking debate but LET'S MOVE ON! We are going on a Disney Cruise for goodness sake and we are going to have a blast.

I spent a month at Great Lakes for training one year. We had to eat at the same mess hall as the basic trainees and was amazed that there was actually food worse than Army food. Felt sorry for the poor squids. Too bad the Army/Navy game is later in the year, we could get a little rivalry going. Oh, wait, Army football blows! I'll stick with the Buckeyes.

They normally come from Federal Express, but I have had DSL deliver them before. It probably has to do with who you booked your cruise with.

And LaRue... Thank you for making the right gesture at the right time. And you're right... time to be moving along...

Someone I met on the last sailing commented that I sound like one of those people who are happy all of the time. And I thought... now that's funny .... I am a happy person and nothing is ever going to change that! We all have a lot to be happy about - and embarking on a nice voyage with DIsney is but one of them, eh?

So the next installment of my cruise report will be converted into a generally short list of wild ideas on things to consider to have a little more fun on the voyage.

That will come in the next day or so. Or if I get derailed then it will be the weekend!

Sloopy - thank you for your service to our country as well. Now if your Buckeyes will just let my Gophers win on the 28th, it would really mean a lot. Please...Please...Please :rotfl:

CaptainCrash - I have been wanting to ask you this question for awhile and I guess now is as good a time as any. When do you sleep? I see you posted something this morning at 6 something board time and then again at 11 something board time. Are you one of those that only sleeps like 3-4 hours a day, or do you nap a lot during the day. :confused3

Man, that must have been very difficult while completely engulfed in bubble wrap!

Well...

it's 1AM and here's my answer. I seem to get by on little sleep and can turn in anytime from 1AM to 4AM. I used to get up now at about 9:30AM typically. So that is anything from 8.5 to 5.5 hours sleep. When my kids turn in it used to 12-1AM so I would do some work and gain leisure time after they turn in. But since they started school, and since we returned from the DCL sailing we've shifted the kids down to sleeping between 9:30 to 11PM with 10:30 being pretty common. So I am now turning in anytime from 12 midnite to about 3 or 4AM. I am now getting up at about 8-9 Am so I get anything from 9-4 hours rest. Typically I get about 7 hours sleep though. If I turn in late I sleep a little later... so 4 hours rest is not a common thing when I turn in late. I probably get 5+ hours rest if I turn in at 3 or 4AM.

So why am I up tonight? I'm actually sorting through plans for a family gathering in Italy next March or August. We have families coming out from Maui, Honolulu, LA and Boston. If we go in August then we fly into Venice and out of Rome. The cruise is the inaugural 9 nite sailing of the Carnival Freedom for the bargain price of $2500 with 4 passengers with a past passenger rebooking discount. Compare that to August when the sailings are 12 nite and start at $5000 for 4. So we are trying to go in March. Air fares for ME are near zero as I'm burning 200,000 miles on United to fly free into Venice and out of Rome (open jaw). Fares from Boston are $299 + 262 in taxes on Air itlaia r/t into VENICE. Honolulu is $1,126 on United for r/t into VENICE. And fares from Maui are $1,068 r/t to Venice. For all the folks flying r/t from Venice ... they still neeed a one way from Rome to Venice. I've noted Lufthansa is $208; Ryan air is only 2.72 Euros + 21.87 euros in taxes! Yup... it's about $30! But the catch is checked baggage limit is only 20 kilos. And they get you for 8 euros a kilo in excess baggage. My last flight to Orlando for the cruise saw me with about 170 pounds in checked baggage. So this would amount to about 144 Euros in baggage fees. And another low ball alternative is Meridiana air at 9 euros + 30 euros in fees for a one way. Although this is more then Ryan air - their 20 kilo baggage limit charges only 5 euros per excess Kilo. SO with my 170 pound example we would have only 90 euros in excess baggage fees.

So tomorrow I'm reserving 3 cabins on the Carnival Freedom for its' inaugural 1st sailing - March 5th for 9 nites from Venice to Rome. Plus I have a little business to tend to tomorrow as well.

I have a lot of details to review before we committ funds though.

So - that is what is keeping me up. I wandered over to the DIS for comic relief as I'm getting cross eyed from looking at airline differences and baggage details. Plus I've been calling into Boston and Hawaii this evening to explain the details to the family members involved. OK... I'll bet this was more of a reply then you expected. But there is always something to do. I was looking at a real estate investment a few weeks ago and it consumed all my attention for several days. And a few weeks ago I bought a new computer strategy game and that consumed all kinds of time too! I now have another new computer game where I have NOT opened the box yet - and that is gonna get some time this weekend. AnD now some in family are suggesting we gather in Maui for Christmas. Arrrgh! More travel planning!????

TTFN!

One of the Co-Moderators posted a thread on the main page with Halloween info for the Magic and Wonder cruises. She said the Magic will celebrate Halloween on the 30th, and Pirate night on the 31st. The Wonder is celebrating Pirate night on the 30th and Halloween on the 31st. I don't know how "official" this info is, but it sounded like she heard it directly from Disney :confused3

Hope somebody gets to dance today!!!

pirate: yay!!!!! - it is coming from Sue Ellen so I am betting it is official!!!!!! pirate:

So glad we don't have to worry about Halloween on a port day!!!

:sunny: Thank you, Sue Ellen!!!!! :sunny:

AWOL- If you only knew... There was some good points to the bubblewrap. 1st, I survived the renovation without a mark on me, except for the paint I stepped in. 2nd, DH found it kinda sexy (but thats another website  )

Crash- Sounds like you keep my hours. I'm up at 2 or 2:30am. I nap in the afternoon, usually around 1pm, for as long as my schedule will allow. If it's a busy day, then there's no nap. If I'm lucky, I'll start to fall asleep on the couch around 8pm, but typical bed time is 10 or 11. I've always had odd sleeping patterns and at least once a decade I catch up on all the missed hours by sleeping for a 24 hour period. Some of us just run better on less sleep. I have a sister that if she doesn't get 8 or more hours, she's miserable!

I hope someone does the dance today :cool1: It means theres hope for the rest of us! (James just knocked on the desk, pointed to the front door and said "Doc Man's here! I think he's mocking me  )
