Well, being it is our first cruise AND our anniversary, I might as well go all out. James is wearing a tux (at my request) with his cowboy hat (maybe) and I'll be in the long gown. I'll be the one walking down the corridor carrying my shoes until we get to dinner.
For Pirate night James is wearing a "pirate" t-shirt. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm gonna wear. I want to get into the theme of the party without going over the top.
I hope the days don't start to drag... it seems like time is flying and I'm running out of time to finish my shopping. I've already gotten a head start on the packing, but I know I'm gonna have to re-pack and leave some stuff at home. I always tend to overpack anyway.
Hope everyone has a good day...looking forward to the weekend! :cool1:

I am going to be happy just to be on the ship and have my favorite Golden Gophers take down the mighty Ohio State Buckeyes on the 28th. (I hope Sloopy, Bucki and Missy don't see this :rotfl2: )

HA HA NOW THAT IS A FUNNY JOKE!!! I am not sure what you know about Ohio State Fans but we have a reputation to get ugly..........better watch what you say or PaPa might throw beer on you or something! J/K, I am really just hoping there is a feed to watch the game at all. (Not kidding about OSU fans being a little hateful though......have you ever been to the shoe? I have seen people who are not Buckeyes spit on, punched, and beer throwing too. )

I know this is so lazy, but if someone has a copy of the email they sent DCL about TOT and pirate night could you copy and paste it here and I will send it. I just do not have the energy to construct one today.

Have a great day everyone!

Here you go

To whom it may concern:
I am writing to you today about the events planned for the October 28th Halloween sailing. It is my recent understanding that DCL has decided to combine Halloween and pirate night together. Many of us booked this trip so that we could celebrate the special occasion of Halloween with DCL. Pirate night is a night celebrated each week on the Magic. With a special holiday why would you not celebrate Halloween on it's date and pirate night the following evening? This would make our sailing "special" and unique one of the reasons we booked these specific dates. Please take my hope that you will make a different decision and let us celebrate these events equally on different nights under condideration.
Thank you.

It's 7:30 am. This is not the email I sent. It might be full of typos and grammatical errors. I'm tired and the kids are in full get ready for school chaos. Please use the email as a guide and send asap. They are going to make a decision soon and we were told the more emails the more serious their consideration will be. Thanks
Jen

I just sent out an e-mail regarding the Halloween and Pirate Night events. My sons are going to be so disappointed if the events are not celebrated seperately. Not to mention, I spoke with a DCL representative on the phone over a month ago, who assured me that they would be scheduled on different days. On that information, I spent time and money on making costumes for both events.

Honestly, if it is a fireworks issue, why not celebrate Halloween on the 30th, when we are at sea, and not a port day. Then they could keep Pirates night on the 31st while at St. Martin, so the fireworks won't be a problem.

Once again, a big thank you to Heather and Kristin for planning the DIS trick-or-treat. It may end up being the only real Halloween celebration planned.

Missy, I prefer the word "passionate" over "ugly". LOL

Actually...years ago dh and I were seated way too close to the student section, and got caught in the middle of a marshmallow fight. That was all fine and good, but things did get ugly when they started putting the marshmallows in their mouths and then trowing them. GROSS! And who ends up with a sticky, wet marshmallow in her hair? ME! Those crazy students! Inspite of that experience, there is NOTHING like being in the shoe when TBDBITL (The Best D*** Band In The Land) comes out! GDAC, I promise....I won't bring any marshmallows!

It looks like the Oct 21st cruisers have started to recieve their docs yesterday! So maybe by this time next week many of us will have ours!

I agree....this would be an easy way to solve the problem. Sometimes beggar's night is celebrated on an different night in my hometown because of conflict with Friday night HS football games, and the kids don't care at all which night it's on. I will send an email also.

akghutton. Thanks for sending the email. Even if it were a firework issue (I've been told it's not) Couldn't fireworks be worked into a Halloween party? The focus of my last email to DCL (as suggested by my ta) is why would they make this decision. What is thier reasoning.

thanks I sent one from me........I'll work on getting one out from all cabins in our party.

Missy

Thanks for sending the emails Lets hope that it helps..

The DCL manager Janette called me back last night at 9:45 and told me that she was in touch with the ship and they have been getting some complaints...So she was going to call me back today after one and hopefully have some answers lets keep our fingers crossed........

I just got off the phone with Karen from the corporate office for DCL in Florida and she spoke with the Entertainment Department and has confirmed with me that Pirate Night has been moved to a alternate night.. She has assured me that this is the case... She went on to say that they have had complaints. She also read me the letter that we will recieve with our documents about the Halloween costume party. They will be having costume contests ie: Best Disney costumes, etc.....

I e-mailed a letter, too. A little extra complaining never hurts when you're trying to get what you want :teeth: (says the youngest of four). :rolleyes1

Thanks for calling them Kristin.....so happy they are willing to switch the date!

I sent an email as well. My kids are excited to be able to dress up twice! My whole family has pirate outfits. I just have to work on convincing my husband it will be fun!

I think I will bring along my Lilo outfit!!! The kids will be disappointed if I'm not Lilo with them.

Have a wonderful day!
Melissa

I sent an email as well!!!

can't hurt...

we are so looking forward to celebrating Halloween - the reason we booked in the first place!!!Only DD is dressing up for Halloween - but we are all hopefully geting pirate costumes.

:sunny: :wizard: :wizard: :sunny:

Hopefully it will work out as they promised...

I got a letter back (as I'm sure others did as well) from Jennifer, DCL Guest Communications stating they are finalizing the party plans, and as of now there will be two seperate nights for the Halloween party and the Pirate party. Just to let everyone know.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding your family's upcoming voyage aboard the Disney Magic.

I truly regret the disappointments you have expressed regarding the Halloween celebrations onboard the ship. At this time, we are finalizing our Halloween celebration. We are looking at having our Halloween celebration on a different night than the Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party. Since we are still finalizing our Halloween celebration, you may wish to contact us closer to your sailing once the finishing touches are in place.

I can assure you that we take your concerns very seriously and I am sure that your family will have a magical cruise.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

I am sure we all got the same reply........

Melissa, I think you should absolutely dress up as Lilo. It's fun and in the spirit of Halloween. Maybe you will win best Disney costume! Our first cruise was during Halloween (our honeymoon) leaving Port Canaveral October 29th. It was so much fun to see how clever some people can be.
