GO SEE NARNIA!! It was so good. My take- I loved the Biblical aspect of the story. The Ice Queen and her army represents Satan and his army of demons. Aslan represents Jesus, who sacrificed Himself for us and defeated death. I loved this story as a kid, and this movie has really reminded me of that. DH's take- The special effects are amazing & he loved the all of the action adventure. DS's take- he has read the entire series and the movie brought it all to life. He was captivated the entire time, and he'll probably be drawing Narnia pictures for weeks. DD's take- she enjoyed the movie because it was a story about kids & she got a kick out of all of the talking animals. She was a bit confused at times, so Drew and I helped her out with that. But she was never scared of anything in the movie. In fact, she had to go to the bathroom with about 30 min. to go and she refused to leave the movie because she was so interested in it. I do think the war scene may be too intense for some viewers, however, it's not a bloody scene.
We'll definitely be adding this movie to our DVD collection. It's an instant classic!

Thanks for the info Buck...
I was hoping that it was ok for the twins to go and see..They get a bit scared at movies...Sounds like it is a great family movie...My Dh would love it with all of the special effects in it..He loves that type of stuff..Have you read the book?? i read it when I taught fourth grade...It is great....Your son would love it...
Hope you had a great weekend...
I am in the mood for fudge do you have a recipe that you use??Making your soup again this weekend...YUM YUM!!!!!!!!!!!
Do not know what to do my parents are living with us till their condo is ready aobut one more week...and they are on cruise coming home tomorrow and my dad called from the ship and said my mom came down with the flu today(sat.)..I am supposed to have eighteen three year olds here on monday to build gingerbread houses and do not know what to do????? Imean cancel or not due to my mom???I think I should cancel what do you think????
Kristin

Kritter-well, you've probably decided by now if you will cancel you gingerbread house party or not. I hope your mom feels better soon. Hope she wasn't sick for too much of her cruise.

Kylie started with it on Saturday afternoon. She's staying home from school today. And if she's going to be sick, I'm glad she had it this weekend and not this coming weekend. She has a skating competion on Sunday, and I'd hate for her to miss that.

Buck,
My mom is soo mush better...How is Kylie??? It was short lived fgor her..So a few close friends came by today and we made a few houses...it was much smaller than orginally planned but nice...
How fun a skaitn competion let us know how she is feeling?? how is your wrappping coming along?? I am all done finally.....

I'm keeping Kylie home one more day. I think she's feeling much better, but she needs one more day of rest.

I have wrapped everything we are giving to family and friends, but I haven't started the kid's gifts yet. I had planned on doing that yesterday or today, but with Kylie home, I couldn't. I think I'll start it tomorrow. Still have to buy some "fill in" items for the kids, but other than that we're done!

I'm really looking forward to 2006....It will make the cruise seem so much closer. Do you have any big plans for New Year's Eve? We usually have a quiet evening at home with the kids, have snacks and watch movies/play games. Kylie still doesn't do real well with late nights. She and my husband both have that "Restless Leg Syndrome". It can get bad if she stays up late. One time my sil took the kids to a movie that started at 9pm, and they had to leave in the middle of it because Kylie was complaining that her legs were hurting.

Speaking of Kylie....she's getting up now. Gotta go!

I do hope Kylie is feeling better soon...Sounds like she is on the mend.....

we usually do the same thing as you on New years eve,,,Can not do too much when the kids are soo small...then on new years day we usually take down our tree....

I can not wait for 2006 then it will seem that much closer..Forgot hav eyou guys ever been on the cruise before??

What is Restless leg Syndrome??

Did your son get sick yet..Lets hope he does not get it...then you can get some of your wrapping done....
glad to see that you are all doen with the other wrapping...

Won't somebuddy PLEASE take me in their luggage so I kin go?????? :goodvibes

hello y'all!

I have a 2 year old who just fell asleep in my lap (yipee!). I'm turning in quick too to try an' git some rest too...

But i wanted to chime in with encouragement for all to see Narnia. We've seen it twice now - and it's great entertainment suitable for kids with good crossover implications in support of faith developement in our kin.

Aside from that - where are your recipies?

my eyes are tired - g'nite everyone... :wave2:

Captain,
I agree with you (about Narnia). Our Church has been promoting it for a couple of months, giving out posters and such. We were NOT disappointed at all. And Drew, my 10 year old who has read the series, TOTALLY "gets it". I'm sure we'll be there again opening night for the rest of the series, when the films are released. BTW, speaking of recipes, I saw on one of the Narnia web sites a recipe for Turkish Delight!

Kritter- yes, Drew had already been sick. Now DH has got it! I've been taking airborne so that I can try to stay healthy. Doing my baking today. Kylie's last dance class is tonight, and I'm making tins of goodies for her teachers.

Oh I am soo sorry to hear that DH is sick now...that is terrible....UGH!! I hope you do not get it....stay healthy

So busy my parents are still living here and I am ready to scream that I have no time to myself or with my family alone....UGH!!!It looks like they might be here christmas morning and that will be hard..It will be liek we have no family time alone...The hours that my Dh works make it so hard to have time just the four of us...The thing is they are building a brand new condo and their builder is ultra slow...When I say slow I am being nice about it.....

Ok all for now check in tomorrow..Buck got any good cookie recipes to share I am going to bake with the kids on friday..Looks like we will be ahving an ice storm on friday so that will make it more fun baking and all....

Hello to all....................

XLT and I had a great weekend at Disney. He took lots of pictures for you, kritter. He'll probably post them this weekend. He has been getting up at 2:30 every morning this week. (job related) so at 7:30pm, he's pretty much dead to the world. :confused3 Go figure!

Tomorrow is a busy day for me. It is our "Polar Express Party" at school. We're all wearing our p.j.s. I promised the kids a Polar Express party if they collectively read 350 books in 2 weeks. I am happy to report they read 415!

Well, I'm sure Dave will get on tomorrow...........
Happy Thursday to all!

We all wore our P.J.s to school and brought our favorite stuffed animal. We drank hot chocolate, "as thick and rich as melted chocolate bars". (a quote from the book, for those of you who have not read the book) We ate cookies, and all sat on the carpet as I read the story. When I was finished, I pulled out a big silver bell, and told the children that I was going to shake the bell, and I only wanted thoes children who could actually hear the bell to raise their hands. HOW AMAZING that every first grader was able to actually hear the bell! Then, everyone got their own bell on a ribbon, to go home with and see who in their family could still hear the bell. Earlier in the week, we made gingerbread men from applesauce, cinnamon and glue. They had to dry several days, so today we were able to decorate them with glitter glue. A busy day...........so I'm glad it's over!
Dave didn't have such a great day......he left at 2:30 this morning, and hit a deer right outside of our subdivision! (Actually, I guess the deer didn't have such a great day either!)
Tomorrow is the last day for school before the winter break! YEAH!!!!!!

Fran,

Oh my gosh I am hoping that Dave is OK??? and the car tooo???

Oh I love the idea of the polar express party....I want the recipe for the ginegerbread men...you have great ideas.. when I go back to teaching I will have to get some ideas from you....
I bet you are going to enjoy your christmas break sooo much....
You guys get out earlier for christmas than the kids up here do??
Talk to you soon,
kristin

I want the recipe for the ginegerbread men

This is from memory..............but I think it is correct.
1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 cup cinnamon
2 Tbs. Elmer's glue

Mix well. Dough will be stiff.
Roll onto wax paper. (I then let the dough "sit" for a while.....say 10 minutes, to help it "firm" up)
Cut out men with cutter. Peel away the extra. Poke a hole in the top with a straw. Let sit for several days. Makes about 6 men.
I kept fliiping them, to help them dry evenly. Also, since FL is so humid, I also had a small fan blowing on low aimed at them to help speed the drying time.
Hope this works for you......they smell wonderful!!!!!! But don't eat them!!!

Good Luck

Oh my gosh I am hoping that Dave is OK??? and the car tooo???
Dave is fine...........the car has a few "issues".
