Halloween Cruise 2004 Trip Report
Part 3: Day 3, Monday, November 1
Just a reminder again - heres the cast: theres me DM Shirley (58), DD Debbie (30), DSIL Paul (39), DGS Hunter (6), DD Beth (36) and DSIL Daryl (30). We were booked in SPH 5520 and inside cabin 5513 which was just down the hall. Me, Debbie, Paul and Hunter were in 5520 and my other daughter Beth and husband Daryl were in 5513.
It was Character Breakfast this morning at Parrot Cay. They no longer give out tickets for this you just go to Parrot Cay at the appropriate time and day (8:15 for us since we had the main seating for dinner). It was so much fun! There was a nice breakfast combo plate for the kids (I remember Mickey waffles was one of the items on the plate) and every character would visit each table. There was Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale (separately), and Pluto. Lots of opportunity to take pictures and of course there was the ships photographer too. I had read that some people thought it was rushed and I never noticed this.
My grandson had lost a front tooth the day before and Tinkerbell brought him a cute Mickey Mouse light-up pen in exchange for the tooth. He brought this to breakfast along with a sheet of stationery from the rooms desk. I wasnt even thinking of autographs when we sat down for breakfast but the first character signed his paper for him and the other characters did the same. Turned out to be a great keepsake!
This was a day at sea so the remainder of the morning was leisurely. I did have a 2:00 appointment at the spa for a manicure. Had to get matching blue fingernails! What great timing because I received a call from Palo earlier that afternoon giving me a reservation for dinner at 6:00 that evening. I couldnt have been happier because that was my first choice.
Did go to play Bingo after the spa appointment. I didnt win anything but learned that even the cast members love Plutos chicken fingers. Seems that they get lots of potatoes and rice because there are 60 nationalities and it must be tough finding a food that all of them can/want to eat.
Today was formal attire for dinner. Since one son-in-law was in quarantine and my other son-in-law decided to stay with Hunter (Hunter was OK with the kids club but not that enthusiastic about going and just maybe my other son-in-law didnt want to dress up), it ended up that it was just me and my daughters dining at Palo. What a treat!
We loved all of the food at Palo. The bread and appetizers were so good that I tried not to fill-up on these items because I knew that filet mignon was coming as the main course. All three of us chose this as our entrée and it was cooked just right medium-well for two of us and medium-rare for the other. And of course we had to have the chocolate soufflé for dessert with chocolate and vanilla sauce. One cute incident was when one of the servers remembered me from the day before when I came to High Tea and that I had the daughters who never showed because they were at wine tasting. He came to my table and was teasing them about it. Hows that for personalized service / fun? The dinner was lovely and I have a great picture of the three of us dressed up in our formal wear dining at Palo. My one daughter asked it they could fix a dinner for her husband in quarantine and they were more than happy to do this. Just so nice!
We went to see Golden Mickeys and I loved this show as well. I enjoyed all of the shows and found them a great way to end the day. Tomorrow it is St. Martin!
