Anyone have any advice to offer as far as sale prices for Halloween costumes? My daughter is only 2 but loves the princesses. I seem to recall in past years that the costumes at TDS get really marked down but is it really close to Halloween or after? I guess I'm wondering if I should risk waiting for a sale as it gets closer (since there are several costumes that I like) or just buy her one now?

Have you tried Ebay? I have been looking at some very nice costumes for some really nice prices.

I don't think The Disney Store marks down Halloween costumes until well after the holiday. I know Costco has princess costumes right now. I second looking on E-Bay. I bought my son's Buzz costume for much less 2 years ago.

costco does have the out right now at $29.99 while the disney store they are $34.50. I went ahead and purchased my daughters at the disney store for fear of them not having her size later on. the ones at the disney store are just beautiful this year
I went ahead and bought my son's buzz there too so I could try it on him since I worried about it fitting him. My kids love to play dress up everyday and have gotten alot of use out of the costumes. If you are ordering online I do have a $10 off coupon off of $50

use code: HBKCGQTPRVCMRE

I havent used it and it expires 9/6/04.

I believe that the last couple of years, The Disney Store marked the costumes 50% off on Halloween day around here. Of course, that's taking a big chance if you really have your heart set on a certain costume and size. I'd also give ebay a try.

I have no idea what it means- it was the coupon code on my postcard that I received.

Thanks Mamalle...I was reading too fast and I originally missed the "use code" part of that...thought you had signed off with those letters and they meant something.

*sigh* Maybe I do need glasses...

I will add this thought...

I have done or helped with costumes for our community theatre, both the Young Footliters and for some of the adult shows. If you already have/are given/ or buy a beautiful princess-type dress you may just want to add a crown, wand or sceptre, jewelry and/or shoes to complete the outfit.

You can find some of the most amazing shoes at second hand stores (small adult sizes fit little girls too!) for bargain prices if you are so inclined.

A plain basic princess crown (from DollarStore or similar) is so much fun for your child to decorate herself with a bag of inexpensive glue-on jewels (save some for the sceptre and shoes)...here's another idea, use her own shoes that she never wears for some reason or other and decorate them to get some use out of them before she outgrows them.

A sceptre or wand can be made out of a dowel (or cut a common plastic hanger a breadknife if you don't have a saw (notch where you want to cut it with the breadknife and it will break when you bend it (freezing it for a few minutes first will make this a snap *grin*) Glue or hot glue a decorated cardboard or posterboard (I use the white inserts from nylon or shirt packages) star on the top...add ribbons (hair ribbon, paper ribbon, gift box ribbons, whatever you have) under the star.

lol...if you like this kind of thing it's easy and the kids love it...if you hate doing this just buy the costume from e-bay and the kids will love that too.

Target has a couple of princess costumes in their toy aisle... They are usually a bit cheaper than the "official Halloween" costumes. Cute, too!
