I LOVE matching/coordinating sibling & family costumes at Halloween!! It's what we've always done!

For about 7 years, we had DD & older DS & then we added younger DS. So I don't have a lot of sister costume ideas.

However, one year, DD & older DS were baby spiders, & DH & I were the webs - I fabric-painted web onto black long-sleeved t-shirts & that's what DH & I wore w/ black slacks.

Another year, my sister dressed up as a beekeeper, & her kids were bees.

I love the idea of Elsa & Anna for your 2 girls!

A scarecrow & a pumpkin would be cute too!

I wanted my kids to be Rey and BB8 from Star Wars. They were not on board. LOL!

One of my friends has 4 kids. The oldest is a high school sophomore boy (followed by a girl and 2 more boys). For the past 10 years the kids have done a Halloween card with coordinating costumes. It has become a huge family tradition that the card recipients LOVE. The kids themselves are really into it and are instrumental in choosing the theme.

Here are a few of their past themes:
Wizard of OZ (Dorothy, tin man, the wizard...last kid wasn't born yet)
Star Wars (Leia, Vader, Luke, Yoda...new baby was Yoda)
Rock-n-Roll/Elvis (or Elvi...for multiple Elvis)
Ghostbusters - the original movie (Staypuff man, 2 ghost busters, Zuul red dress girl)
The Shining (the twin girls, kid on the big wheel, oldest boy with an ax, all in a hallway) One of the boys wore a wig & was the second girl twin...hilarious.
The Addams Family (Gomez, Morticia, Lurch, Uncle Fester)
Duck Dynasty (Willie, Jase, Uncle Si, Kay)
Gilligan's Island (Gilligan, the Skipper, Mary Anne, Mr. Howell)
Political Figures (Trump, Hillary & Bill Clinton, the Pope)

If they were older, I would definitely recommend dressing them like "The Shinning" girls and teach them to say in an English accent, "Come play with us, for ever and ever. . . " :p

But since they're 2 and 4, I would put them in pajamas, put some kind of tail on them, draw whiskers on their face, and let them go as a kitty or puppy or tiger or whatever they wanted.

At those ages, I doubt they'd care or understand anything more grown-up than that.

I got nuthin'. The only time my girls ever wanted to dress alike was when I read The Island of the Blue Dolphins to them. The oldest ,about 8, went as Karana and the middle one went as Rontu-aru(the dog--5 yrs). The baby( 2 yrs) wanted to be Blue from Blues Clues :)

Whatever the kids want to be?

I'm guessing OP's 4-year-old has more of an opinion than her 2-year-old at this point.

Yeah, has your older DD mentioned anything you could work of?

If not, I like all of these suggestions:

Cat and Mouse
Pumpkin and Fairy God Mother

My brother and I were M&Ms once. My dad bought some felt, cut two circles, made a place for our limbs and head, then sewed it together and glued a giant M on the front. It was a cold night that night for trick or treating so we wore long sleeves underneath that were the same color.

Snow White & a dwarf

A witch and her kitty

At about that age, oldest ds was a Dr. He used his Dr. playset complete with scrubs.

His 2 year old brother was in his pajamas in his stoller decked out as a hospital bed with a water bottle on an iv pole. Easy and budget friendly.

And I think my nieces were a flower and bumblebee around those ages.

These are cute stories too! -

My 7yo wanted to be Ash Ketchum from Pokemon, but only if his 2yo brother would be his Pikachu! My boys love being coordinated. Last year it was Star Wars stuff. The baby was Wicket, oldest was Vader.

One year my daughter was the delivery person and my son was the "package".

My son dressed as a traffic cone one year. He wore neon orange sweat pants and a sweat shirt and we bought a small traffic cone that he wore on his head. People thought it was pretty clever and he came up with it all by himself.

Seeking Halloween costume ideas for my 4 year old & almost 2 year old.-sisters Last year my older DD was Old Macdonald & my younger DD was her sheep.

Any ideas for this year?

Thanks!

Do they WANT to dress up with coordinating costumes???

The two year old probably doesn't have much of an opinion or understanding about Halloween, but at 4, I'd think your older daughter might have some very specific ideas about what SHE wants to dress up as. I know at that age, mine certainly did.

One of my friends has six kids, and they have often dressed up in coordinating costumes (I don't think the kids got a choice). One year they were thing one, thing two, thing three, etc. and Dad dressed as the cat in the hat. Another year they were all different color M&Ms. My daughter and her friends all dressed up one year as Harry, Hermoine, Dumbledore, Ron, and Professor Umbridge. And one year when we went to MNSSHP we all dressed as different pirates.

Halloween thread already yikes! My boys are close in age and always into the same things each year so we had lots of costumes that went together and it was always their idea. They were over time: Red & Blue Power Rangers, Bo & Luke Duke, Batman & Robin, Han Solo & Luke Skywalker, Woody & Buzz, Kirk & Spock...those were awesome years. Then they hit the "double digits" and started planning with their friends instead of each other..come to think of it some years their friends did a theme (like Justice League for example) and other years it was every man for himself.

I have no idea about girls though lol. There must be something one or both of them are "in to" at this moment?

My older 2 kids at 4 didn't have strong opinions about what they wanted to be for Halloween, they were happy with whatever I picked. I picked something warm. It's freaking cold up here on Halloween! My daughter at 4 wore a fleece Old Navy kitty costume I got at a garage sale. The two years before that she was a butterfly - also Old Navy fleece. Love those costumes!! My oldest was Yoda at 4 - again, fleece - I'm pretty sure that conversation went something like "Hey, wanna be Yoda?" "Sure!" even though he'd never been interested in Star Wars at that point, lol.

Now my youngest has many opinions. Two years ago (ages 3 and 6) he and my daughter decided to be Robin and Raven from Teen Titans Go - and that was the first year I had kids that coordinated. Last year they wanted to be Anger and Joy. This year all 3 want to be something from Gravity Falls.

Neither kid has a preference. My 4 year old has expressed no costume preferences. She is just very excited about trick or treating. I like your cat in the hat idea-so cute!

One year my baby was a dragon and his older brother was a knight. It was the cutest thing ever. Last year all 4 of us went as superheroes we each made up. This year we're doing Return of the Jedi. I'm Leia on Hoth, my dh is supposedly going to be Han Solo on Hoth, DS9 will be Luke on Dagobah complete with Yoda on his back and DS5 will be Boba Fett. They are very excited.

What about Leia and an Ewok? They have some really cute toddler Ewok costumes out there and Leia has some cute hairstyles a 4 year old girl might like.

I think this year is my last year to pick the costumes myself. My DD is going to be either Everest or Skye(Paw Patrol) and her 1yo brother is going to either be Chase or Marshell. I was debating on dressing up as a girl version of Ryder...LOL, but I will probably go with the other girl puppy DD does not take
