Next trip Oct31-Nov6. Is it a must to go to MNSSHP? Not sure my kids will make it up that late to be worth it. Maybe DH and I will just watch fireworks from TOWL.
Also will I get to see Christmas decorations at MK and when do resorts put up their trees?

That is the exact timing of my trip! We also did this same trip in 2013, so I will give you my two cents. My kids are still pretty young (will be almost 9 and almost at the time of our trip) - they were almost 7 and almost 4 the last time we were there. There was no way I could justify spending $70x5 (or thereabouts) for a late entry into MK when I was pretty sure my kids wouldn't be able to stay up long enough to justify the cost. Then again, I try and keep our trip costs down as a trip for a family of 5 does not come cheap. Last time, 10/31 was our arrival day so we landed mid-day and spent the day at the resort (BLT - sounds like you might be doing the same?). There are lots of fun activities going on between the Contemporary and BLT - crafts, music, games. They had a M&G with Phineas and Ferb. Kids were dressed up - mine, too. Then towards the evening, they set up a scavenger hunt, which is how they also get to TOT. They also had s'mores. It was perfect for our kids. Really low key. Then I put them into bed and I went up to TOWL to see the fireworks (hubby stayed in the room with the kids). For us, I don't see us spending that amount of money for party tickets until our kids are much older and can handle being up. Based on what I've read about the crowds, I don't see it being worth the added expense when I can add on another park day for $10 each vs. $70 for a party ticket.

Our last day that trip was MK - maybe it was 11/4 or 11/5? Christmas decorations were starting to go up, but not completely done. I don't believe that anything was up at the resorts just yet.

This year, my plan is to arrive on 10/30 (driving this time to save on airfare). So on 10/31, we would do MK, which should be a slow day, and then leave around 4 when the MNSSHP guests start arriving, and go back to the resort for the same thing as last time. Looking forward to it!

Hello neighbor! How funny! We are driving down 30th and arriving at AKL on the 31-nov3 then to poly 3-6. We were at BLT in April :)
I appreciate the tips for Halloween. I think we'll skip MNSSHP this year. I hope to catch the fireworks though! I've heard the resorts have a lot for this kids to do on Halloween so I'm looking forward to that as well.
Looking forward to seeing some Christmas decorations maybe.

Oh hey, neighbor! That is you! I forgot you did BLT this past trip. I'm sure AKL will have stuff going on, too. How old are your kids? I found the activities to be very low-key, but perfect for our needs. Just enough candy to make them not feel like they missed anything by not being at home, but not an overload, like I imagine people get when they go to the party.

Last time, we were able to get a picture in MK, before opening, where the flag pole is where they had some of the Christmas decorations up, including the wooden soldiers. Unfortunately, the picture came out blurry because my lens was smudged. :sad2: But it would have made for a great Christmas card that year. Oh well. Hopefully you'll get to see stuff before you leave. Are you planning on leaving the 6th? I think you said your last trip home you did in one fell swoop - we are hoping to do the same, but we would love to be on the road before the sun comes up. We'll see.

I may in the Minority here but I am doing 10/31 thru 11/9 at OKW and on my arrival day I am going to MNSSHP we have never been before and what a better way to do the first one than going on Halloween. MY DD (8) will sleep on the plane and I do not plan on going to a park until I head to the party I am also going to the first MVMCP on 11/8 I do not recall all the Christmas decorations up at the resorts until closer to Thanksgiving or even after. The decorations will be up in the parks or at least start to be

We're definitely looking forward to a fall trip! I think we are going to leave on the 6th. I suppose we'll play it by ear. I hate to leave early but DH does like to get home in one trip. At least we have the option to stop if we want.

This link lists the Halloween activities at each Disney resort. We also arrive on Halloween and I will have my 1-year old and my 7-year old niece with me. My niece and I are going to the 11/1 Halloween party, and I plan on taking my 1-year old, since she is free, and just handing her off to dad when she becomes too tired. I cannot wait to introduce my daughter to my love for Disney!!!
