I have put this off until the last minute, but I have to pick up Halloween candy tonight. I need to take good care of all my sweet little neighborhood ghoulies and goblins tomorrow night...

Maybe I should have DH hide the candy and not tell me where it is until the kids start to arrive! Nah- he's more dangerous than I am when it comes to dipping into the chocolate and sugar stash.

It's only one day. I can be good for only one day, right?

 We'll see!

I completely understand, Kathy. :) I bought a Russell Stover's low carb toffee bar for my birthday and ended up not eating it. I gave it to my DH to hide. I know if I see it I'll convince myself I have to eat it. I'm so bad. :o

Yes, confession time - I bought some of those snack size m & m's and I had a definate "love affair" with some yesterday! But, today at work all the kidos who are at the daycare - came around trick or treating and I gave them all away. Every last pack - yep all gone - and boy am I glad!!!!

You can do it - buy something you don't like - I think that helps to keep you out of the stuff;)

Good luck and here's some PD~*~*~~*~*~PD~*~*~*~*~*PD to help you get through it!

I don't know... what kind of candy did you get?? :crazy2:

I have to fill the treat bags for my son's class tonight. I am waiting for the last possible moment because I know there will be snack sizes left over and I don't want even ONE to attach to my hips.

You can be good for one day :) I hope you got some candy you don't like.

I lucked out and we decided not to hand out treats this year because we only had about 5 trick or treaters last year. We have very few young children in our neighborhood anymore.

The only problem with that plan is I can't think of ANY candy I don't like!!!:teeth:

I'm dealing with the problem by avoiding it for now. I did not stop to buy candy on the way home. (I was busy buying a new cell phone from a nice young guy who turned out to be a Disney nut! My cell phone rang, blaring out my cheery Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah ringtone. He grinned, and produced a lovely Mickey Mouse light up pen from his pocket. I produced my Splash Mountain floaty pen from my purse. He answered with a Tigger pen from another pocket. I countered with a RockNRoller Coaster pen and Mickey post-it notes. He told me he just spent his 16 day honeymoon at WDW, and couldn't wait to go back and try Mission Space. I told him I'm headed back next month, and would give him a full report. He asked if I knew about Mousesavers and WDWIG. I told him sure, Mary and Deb are sharp gals. I asked if he knew about the DIS. He told me he did, and he's pondering buying into DVC... but I digress. In any case, now you might understand why it was taking so long to upgrade my phone, and why I was running too late to stop by the grocery store on the way to pick DS up from after school care.)

I have now dispatched DH to the grocery store. He will buy the goodies and find a secure and out-of-my-view storage location.

Out of sight, out of mind?

Bev- hope you enjoyed the M&M's! One of my favorites... mmmmmm...

Terry- love the clippie! Did you model for it yourself? Our own little clippie-queen.

Kath- I think you should just dash right down and help me with all of my sweet neighborhood kiddos! I have the most precious little girls across the street, and they would LOVE you!

Lisa- I can hear Russell Stover calling your name! You're a very strong woman to resist!

:p

I know how you feel!! We have a bunch of snack size Mars bars, Kit-Kats and Smarties sitting in the kitchen. Right now it's 8:35 a.m. and I can already hear them calling my name :teeth: Good luck to everyone in the Halloween candy battle

You can do it, YES you can. I have to make sure that I stay away from the kids candy after it is all over with. They are not big candy eaters, so I wind up sending the extras to work with my mom and everyone there eats it.:D . Better them than myself.::yes::

OMGOODNESS!!!

I actually had a meeting at church last night and left the actual T-O-Ting to DH with DDs - got home late last night, all the sweeties tucked in bed and found two HUGE, excuse me, HUGE bags of candy. wwwaaaayyyyyy more than I wanted to see!

BUT - I was feeling in control after staying OP all day, including one slice of garden veg. pizza at the meeting and avoiding the other kinds, so I promptly went to bed

This morning I filled their pumpkins and put the rest in the garage! Outta sight outta mind!!

PD to you Kathy! We WILL get through this chocolate laden week!!:wave2: ::yes::

Here's a solution!!!! At Wal-Mart or really any store they have small treat bags and stickers to seal them with. I sat down in the floor with my three munchkins and we poured all the M&M's, Junior Mints, Butterfingers, Crunch and Snickers onto the floor- we then stuffed two pieces each into a bag and I sealed them with a sticker- now if I want a piece I have to break open one of those cute baggies and feel bad that a trick-or-treater may not have any goodies if I break open a bag. I made 60 bags and if there aren't enough bags I'll just turn off the lights to signal we're closed for business- if I have too many then when it starts slowing down I'll just double up my givings! :) It's really helped because I don't see the candy and those little baggies look so cute!!
Plus if my kidlets saw me breaking open one of those bags- I'd never hear the end of it! :)
Hope this might work for you!!!!

Oh- and my children's candy- I keep in their bag and allow them 5 pieces on Halloween night then 2 pieces a day after that- I wouldn't sneak their candy because it saves me the trouble of having to make dessert for them! :) Keep the bags on the top shelf in the pantry and you'll not even know they're there! :)

I know exactly how you feel!! DH always takes care of buying the candy for our trick or treaters, but I kept telling him to wait! LOL Yesterday he had to go out of town and he is like, "Now Tricia, I really need to buy something before it is too late!":p He came home last night with 2 cases of Kit Kats!! That is okay though because we get about 350 trick or treaters each year! We live right in the center of town on one of the main residential streets!

Now I have the glorious task of taking them all out of the boxes and plastic! The good thing is that I don't really care for Kit Kats so it should be a problem! ;)

My kids don't get to go trick or treat this year since we are going to a game, but I did manage to have some candy around for bags for the football boys and girls. So far I have had 3 recees peanut butter cups. (single ones), but I have totally worked them into my points. I can't wait till the temptation is gone, because I know there is much better snacks that are more nutricious. But I guess that this is life, and sometimes in my life I will want a candy bar. The key I guess is to work it into your plan, and have it be a a decision, rather than an impulse to have it.

Good luck everyone.

GO KATHY!!!!!

You can do it!!! And you've made a great start by buying late and having your DH put the candy away!! In fact, I think I'm going to steal your idea!!

I already bought several days ago, but I got stuff I didn't like (which meant no chocolate). However, when the festivities begin there will be no telling what I am desperate enough to eat!! I think I'll have DH be in charge of giving the candy out and putting the left overs away where I can't see them. :D I'll get him to take them to work with him on Monday or have DD take them to school and share with her friends.
