Hi, has anyone been to Universal at Halloweentime? What do they do for the holiday and is their haunted house too scary for children? Thanks, Christine

At Halloween they have "Halloween Horror Nights". I went last year, and I would definitely say it is too scary for young children!

Is the website from last year.
WARNING: There is some pretty graphic (as in bloody/gorey stuff) things on the website!

Halloween Horror Nights=best Halloween event anywhere. As far as kids being scared,I would say most kids 10 and over will be OK.You know your kids,I've seen many kids like 8 years old love it,then you might have 13 year olds who can't deal with it!!

HHN is for horror fans mainly. Complete halloween freaks may apply as well. If you are the least bit scared of blades, chainsaws, or gore do not go. Last year I asked my Dr for an Ativan for the evening. His response was If you need Ativan then you should not be going!

This event is super scary. There were two haunted houses where people jumped out of corners with fake knives and at least one with a flickering light that could potentially cause a seizure. This event is also not the most disabled friendly event out there. I recomend Disney's halloween party to most people over this one.

They do take their security uber serious for this event. You will go through a metal detector that is reved up so high that my titanium piercings set it off.

I will most likely go again this year but I will have my emergency meds on hand. I will just make sure I do not run out before hand.

There is no halloween events for children at Universal. They decorate the parks for Halloween Horror Nights...which is a seperate ticketed event. Even the decorations can be fairly scary.
If you want stuff that kids can do, then go to Sea World...its a great event for younguns. Busch Gardens also has a seperate ticketed event called Howl O Scream, while not as intense as HHN...still not recommended for children under 12.

i am totally and completely addicted to HHN!!

this year will be my 7th season of attending it.
i always do 3 nights in a row and still can't get enough of it.

no child should go to hhn, i would say under 13, don't take them. i have seen very few children at hhn. scareactors don't necessarily back off when they come upon children.

there are scare houses, scare zones, scare actors through different parts of the park, and lights in the park are dimmed. there is a show called Bill and Teds excellent adventure that has been there yearly. language and theme are geared more to an adult audience.

if you have a problem with alcohol, you wouldn't enjoy the parks during this hard ticket event as there is a beer cart practically near every house before entering and another nearby after exiting it.

if you want a family type of halloween party, sea world or disney would be better.
