This year we will be at the Fort on Halloween. We have been to the MNSSHP in the past but not sure if we want to to that on the 31st this time. My question is what does everyone do on Halloween night and why?

Trick or Treating is a big event at Fort Wilderness. It's loads of fun to see all the imaginative Disney costumes on parents and children alike!

You can read a bit about Halloween at The Fort here: http://land.allears.net/blogs/guestblog/2011/10/halloween_howls_at_fort_wilder.html

Have fun!

Trick or treating at the Fort is amazing and fun, so I would do that on the 31st and save the Halloween Party for another night (we did it on Nov 1 the year we went.) Other can't-miss Fort Halloween events for us were the golfcart parade, the pet parade, and the pumpkin carving/decorating display at the campfire/movie. I can't recall whether those happened right on Halloween when we were there or in the days leading up to it. During our visit, the headless horseman rode through the campfire/movie area, but I'm not sure they do that anymore. I would love to go back again for Halloween...it was one of our best trips! Hope you have a great time!

I just posted this in another thread but this was the 2013 Fort Halloween activities and I would encourage you to leave these two days to be at the Fort. I've never trick-or-treated at the Fort at Halloween but I bet it's fun going from campsite to campsite.

For those who have been, how long does the golf cart parade last? When it is usually over? Trying to squeeze in dinner at Trail's End between the parade and trick or treating.

Remind me how hot it can be this time of year. So tempted to book Halloween 2015 and it is much cheaper of we tent. But DH hates "glistening". :dance3:

Our last warm weather tent attempt was in May (2004) and we said never again. But portable A/C has gotten better since then. We have been in Virginia for 4 years and only have camped in April, Sep, and Oct as kids had scout trips.

It can really vary...a couple years ago it was mid 90's on Halloween and last year it was in the mid 70's. In the 13 years I've lived in the area it has usually been fairly hot (85-95) on Halloween.

Last few years trick or treating has "unofficially" started not long at all after the golf cart parade ended. Or maybe not even officially ended LOL. Last year's posted time was 7PM but we had kids going around our loop by 5:45-6 and it all got kicked off then. Once the first kids start, there's no holding back the others!! By 8:30 we were pretty much done and we went to Trail's End then, planning same for this year. If you watched the parade from the intersection near Trail's End, then went right in and ate, you could feasibly do it but TOT would likely be in full swing when you were done, so that's the chance you'd be taking.

Thank you. I think we are just going to get some food to go then.

Do you have to be staying at Ft. Wilderness to Trick or Treat there? We are spending Halloween night at Kidani Village and looking for a Trick or Treating venue for our grandkids.

At a point in the past the Fort was overwhelmed with non-campers trick or treating and they posted CMs at the loop entrances to check people. But last Halloween they didn't do that so I'm sure there were locals and people from other resorts there. I didn't mind but we gave out a ton of candy.

I read on another forum that people who aren't staying at the fort come over for Halloween. They said that the campers really go all out with the decorations and its a great place for people who didn't get tickets to the mnsshp to go to. I love Halloween and the fort and can't wait to be there! We are staying oct 26 - nov 1.

A lot of people do decorate for Halloween and Christmas. We had a great time and wish we were going again this year. Maybe next year but it depends on time off at my new job. I'm sure you will have a great time.
