Halloween at POFQ? Illuminations or the party at the resort?

Ok, so we will be at POFQ on Halloween night. We are scheduled to be in Epcot that day. Should we spend the day at Epcot and head back to resort that night? It looks like they had lots of cute activities last year on Halloween. I have a 5 year old and 11 year and I think they would enjoy it, but I would love some descriptions. Is it cheesy? Boring? Is it worth missing Illuminations to go back to the resort??

Last year's activities:
4-7 meet and greet with Disney characters (not sure which ones)
4-5 Zombie Cake Walk
5-5:30 Monster Mash Dance Party
5:30 - 6 Costume contest
6-6:30 Halloween Parade
7-8:30 Haunted Campfire
9 - Movie "Hocus Pocus"

I've never stayed over Halloween but those activities look cute and fun. If everything goes right with our plans we might be at POR during Halloween as well. Maybe we'll run into each other! Hopefully someone else can offer more insight!
