Halloween 2011. Oct 29th on the Magic

Sorry to hear it was such a stressful day for you. Hopefully today will be much better.

Here I am surviving with a very hyper 5 year old while her dad is TDY for the remainder of the week.

Wishing the time would pass quickly between now and October so we can experience our first WDW and DCL vacation. I am so excited to be learning about all the in's and out's of visiting the parks as well as going on the cruise. I am in the process of looking for magnets and a fish extender for our door. Hopefully I can find someone crafty to help with these items.

I am also trying to figure out what to do for the FE gifts. As we've never done anything like this I'm not sure about the rules or expectations.

Well, it is late so I should close for now. Have a great day!

Evening all:

Well I am very glad that this day is over....It was a mess at work today.

I work in a physicians office, we are on an electronic medical record system...the computer was down since last night....could not schedule appointments, check in patients correctly, chart on patients in their record...when I left work at 4:30 it still was not up....we were unable to get tomorrow's charts ready, we were unable to print schedules , we have no clue what patients are coming in....what a mess....hoping that they get this fixed sometime this evening or tomorrow will be worse than today.:sad2: computers gotta love them....

nothing else is really new here....

have a good eveing

That must have been awful. Hopefully the support team has gotten things up and running so today will be just busy with catch-up from yesterday. That is the one thing that scares me from a medical perspective - if that server with all my information on it goes belly up - what happens?

There are instructions for making a FE over on the main board and there is no sewing involved. Maybe you could work on that with your DD over the summer??? And, I will just ask a question - what it TDY?? Other than 'Touring Disney YES' I am totally clueless.

Raining here, and I think it will continue for the day. I am sure we need it. Take care and enjoy your Thursday.

For FE gifts - watch your dollar stores or check out Oriental Trading online, they always have interesting items as well.

Thank you so much for the info on the FE. I will definitely look that up and try to work on a no sew project with my DD over the summer.

As for the TDY it military speak for Temporary Duty Yonder Assignment. Essentially my husband is on a business trip for the Army. I sometimes forget that not everyone is military. Guess that is what happens when you are raised in the army and then marry the army. :)

Yonder - that is such a technical term. I wonder how old it is. I find such things interesting. But thanks for explaining it to me. I figured he was off somewhere doing his Army duty.

How is it going Denise - about caught up from yesterday??

Lets just say, that I hope tomorrow will still be better than today. Part of the system came up...the part that isnt working yet is the appointment scheduling....then around 1:18 we got word it was up and we could schedule appointments....at 1:31 we were told to STOP making appointments it was down again:confused3

So when I left at 4:30 still down....Plus I found out that all the appointments we scheduled on tuesday 14th were lost...so that means we will end up double booking the doctors because that slot is available, however, there is a good chance that another person will also show up....thank goodness our schedules are only out until the end of July....or it could be worse...

Other than that, nothing else exciting is going on.

I hope your work day is better than yesterday. As near as I know, quiet weekend here. DH is at camp and not coming home this weekend - DS invited me to dinner tonight but that is as exciting as it will be for me. I will have a houseful next weekend so I guess I can start working on that.

Enjoy!!

Good Morning Everyone :)

I just spent the last hour unclogging my Dyson vacuum. It was so full of dog hair, it wouldn't pick up. I guess that is what happens when you have 4 dogs.

No work for me today but a lot of errands to do- grocery shopping, have to go get books for my classes that I am taking this semester. And of course, visiting my great nephew. He is 6 weeks old today.

Tomorrow I have to work but Sunday we are having all the family over for a Father's Day bbq. That should be fun.

So in case I forget- Happy Father's Day to all the Dis Dads.

MommaMouse,

I know you are planning on Boatswain's in GC. Have you purchased tickets through their website? I was just thinking that I should probably buy them soon, in case they decide to end their 20% discount.

I still can't believe how much Disney charges for this excursion. It would cost about $550 via Disney for our family. Buying the tickets directly from Boatswain's is only going to be $152. I assume the Disney excursion includes something more (lunch, transport, etc?) - but $400 worth? Seems massively overpriced.

I'm really hoping booking on our own doesn't somehow blow up in my face.

Another GC question for you veterans...

If I buy alcohol (Tortuga Vanilla Rum - Yummm!!!) in GC, will I be able to carry it back aboard the ship, or do they deliver it to the room the last night? On Carnival, we couldn't have it til the last night. I am hoping that since DCL allows carry on alcohol, we'll be able to bring it back with us to enjoy on the rest of the cruise.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

hey there yall!!

Higgins: I made a NO SEW FE last year...its very very easy...trust me..just buy the fabric you want...I spent $30 on mine but I made mine too big...and I am going to use the same one for my october cruise..one less thing to worry about.

Look in my First PTR or TR and the pic of the no sew FE is in there.

Its burning hot over here...I fixed my car myself...it was the EGR sensor and tubes. I also added Freon myself in my car..very easy..but lets hope there is no leak and the freon will last forever...

I DO NOT Have to work this weekend but its fathers day so the kids will spend their weekend with him :sad1: but on the bright side I get to go to the Rays game tomorrow night!!!

also I just saw magnet sheets at WALMART for $6...3 sheets (printable magnet sheets)..I think I paid $13 for 5 sheets at compusa/staples. I already spent my "budgeted" money for the cruise on items I'll will post in my PTR...but its a bon voyage minnie mouse pjs for me on sale!!!! and for the boys lightning mcqueen short/tank sets for 7.50 a piece. gotta love the deals.

:yay:

DH tried to purchase liquor at one of the duty-free places in GC the last time we were there and they would not sell it to us since we were on Disney. Those purchases have to be delivered to the ship and DCL doesn't accept the delivery. If you purchase it somewhere else, you can carry it on with you and they will not take it away from you. If you purchase in the ship's duty free shop, that is delivered the last night of the trip.

I do not remember anyone reporting anything less than positive about Boatswain's but you could do a search on the main board and see what comes up.

Dog hair is hard on vacuums. I have 2 labs and a Rainbow (I hate that thing) and only do a small section before I empty the water and (fingers crossed) I have not had any problems. Almost sounds like work might be less taxing on you (well, not literally).

I have to vacuum sweep my tile floors because of my dog...but I definitely need a new vacuum...I am going to invest in SHARK NAVIGATOR...yea thats about as much I can feel comfortable forking out for a vacuum. I have their steam mop and handheld steamer and love it..

I have the Shark Vac n Steam and LOVE IT! I also have a friend that has the Navigator and she loves hers!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

All this vacuum talk, I suppose I gotta use mine today. Not my favorite activity but it needs to be done. Beautiful day here - heading only to the upper 70's.
I also have the grandpup - only he is bigger than my dogs, but they all get along well - I just have to try and stay out of their fun.

Enjoy!
