Halloween 2008

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get any information about the Halloween festivities at DLP as I am thinking of surprising my 5 year old and taking him during this time.

I am curious on expense compared to in April (when we are going), weather, how busy, etc.

Anyone been for Halloween? How was it?

same......we are still thinking about it but i am worried it will be horribly crowded so that we wont be able to get on the rides etc etc

It's always crowded at Halloween, especially the 31st! But if you have Extra Magic Hours and if you stay in the park after 7p.m., it's possible to do lots of attractions!

I see.... but as we were thinking of staying at the Dream Castle we would not be entitled to EMH would we ???

We're hoping to make it for Halloween and DS's would like to do the party, so I'm guessing from previous trip reports we're better off just making the most of the evening and atmosphere and not worrying too much about getting on rides.

How old is your ds Jill? My two's are 21 and 14 (22 and 15 for next Halloween)and as you can guess they are much interested in the party

They'll be 14 and 9 then.

We went early October a few years ago and we all loved the Halloween fun, but every year we watch the Halloween Soiree on Youtube, although it was rather disappointing this year.

I would love them to do the Phantom Manor event again, watched it again this morning and it's definately the best of the evenings so far. IMO.

and it's gives me the chance to wear my Maleficent costume

I have two headbands: one with a big pumpkin in the middle and one with a big bat, we could meet and go around the park togheter

hi all i went there last year and it was packed waited for nearly 2 hours for thunder moutain we were nearly at the front and i broke down
my dd was heart broken as this would have been the first time she could ride it, she told me she had been growing all year for that the night of the party was a huge disappointment you could not move, and the older visiters thought it was funny to get right in my dd who is 4!!! and neice's face to scare them quite a few cross words were said by DH as he does not like his princess getting upset, we went back to the hotel at 10pm dd had enough and kept crying, do not get me wrong the days were great the atmosphere as all ways in disney was fab but would go the week before around the 20th as i was told by the park cm it was quieter if i was to go again in Oct, we went for dd b'day and it just put a bit of a damper on her trip as she could not get on many ride and also the incidents on the night of the party.

The decorations are out from early in October, it was 6th October last year, I think it's 4th October this year. Unfortunately the party is only on the night of the 31st but you will have everything else to enjoy on your dates. Although you'll miss the party, you'll also miss the crowds as it only gets really busy the last two weeks of October (especially the last week).

i think the park is decorated from around the 6th or 7th just after bonfire, and yes the park only has the party on the 31st weather permitting.
