Hallmark recordable storybooks

So I asked my grandfather to get DD one of these for Christmas. They were $30.00 and I guess they had a $10.00 off coupon. He used to read the Night before Christmas to us every Christmas Eve and I thought this would be great for DD. (He lives in Miami, we live in Orlando). he goes into to buy one the other day and they are sold out! The sales associate told him that maybe he could find one on E-Bay but they were going for up to $100.00!!!!! Are you kidding me! First Zhu zhu hamsters and now this! People are starting to make me sick ! Any ideas anyone???

Why don't you just video or audio record him reading the book? That's what I suggested to the parents of my students. I think a video would be an even better keepsake and the children could still "read" the book along with the video or tape.

yes, these did come out around thanksgiving and we got ours but they were selling very fast. I'll be heading out to the mall later and I'll check our Hallmark store to see if my area have any in stock.

I work in a Hallmark store and we sold out about 2 weeks ago, and can't reorder them since Hallmark is also sold out. Good luck with your hunt.

Monday I went out to Hallmark after having seen the print ad for the book. I needed wrapping stuff, too.
I go to the local store - sold out.
Go to another store - sold out. They told me the mall store had 4 left as of right then. This store was dismantling the display as we spoke.
I high tailed to the mall and when I got there they had ONE left. I nabbed it.

Didn't know I wanted it until I had to fight for it!

The stores don't think there will be any restocks.

Hmm, maybe I'll ebay it, lol. No chance.

I've been wanting this for a few months now and I told my MIL about and she was going to get one for all the gkids...so I gave her some $10 off coupons and told her what to do, then she decided it was too much money ACK! I had to scramble over to my store in hopes that they still had some. And I lucked out - there was two left when I got there...and as I was checking out another lady came in asking for them....I just looked as the sales girl with a sheepish grin and scooted on out of the store without making eye contact as the sales girl is telling her she just sold the last one....TO ME!!!

I love this book - I hope you guys can find one and enjoy it with your families

I wanted one too, but they are all sold out around here. I checked ebay as well, but there is no way I am going to pay more than twice what they were being sold for in the store. It is ridiculous what they are being sold for on ebay. Maybe I'll see if the price goes down after Christmas.

Sorry , but it really irks me that people on ebay jack the prices so high. I mean I'm all for making a little money, but sometimes the prices get outrageous! Once, I was looking for princess dresses from a couple of years ago and one seller was selling one for $175 and out of curiosity, I went and looked at it. In the description, the seller stated that she purchased the dress at the BBB and she paid over $200 for the dress. I almost fell off my chair because anyone who has looked up even the basics of the BBB knows that the largest package is $200, not the dress itself. I put a watch on that item and it never did sell .

I hope everyone who wants the book can get it.

We bought our Thanksgiving weekend (got 3 with the $10 off coupon). I'm glad we got them when we did...I thought they were pricey even with the $10 off, but knowing my kids will have them for years made it worth the money.

Thanks for all the well wishes... I will continue to hunt! If ANYONE comes across one please let me know. I would be THRILLED to buy it from you along with shipping and handling! It really irks me as well that people buy all this stuff up and then turn around and sell it for WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY over the original price. I can understand compensation for time and effort, but really??? Oh, well, It's not the end of civilization. We'll be sure to get in early on this one next year... just hoping and praying great grandpa will be around next year. He has just started chemo treatments for prostate cancer. He seems to be doing well.... Maybe next year all this cancer stuff will be behind us and we can really celebrate in style!!!!! (book and all!)

My MIL gave the kids this at Thanksgiving....recorded herself, Grandpa, and their Aunt, Uncle and Cousins in another state each reading a page. It's cute. The only thing that we are careful that nobody touches the wrong button and records over them. I think it will be especially great when the day comes when their Grandparents are no longer with us. I know I'd love to have that recording of my Mom now that she is gone.

I don't know if you are interested, or if they are still available, but last year Hallmark came out with something similiar. It was promoted by Marcia Cross. It was a keepsake book that you were able to answer questions into an MP3 player or just tell a story. I believe it was called a legacy keeper.
